Heavy mixed case with broad bowls and closely packed short lowercase
Base Edge sets a heavy grotesque in cream over a dark glass tower, the strokes thick, the terminals flat and the spacing tight enough that the words read as one block of light.

Sturdy stroke walls and open counters weed cleanly on adhesive vinyl, HTV apparel film, and cut cardstock.
Visual anatomy & craft review
The name runs as one line of mixed case, the B and the d keeping square shoulders, the a a small closed bowl and the g a single-storey hook that keeps the line compact. Letters carry almost no contrast, so the word reads as texture at a distance and as letterforms up close. Two tracked captions frame it above and below, and the photograph supplies the geometry. This is the kind of weight that holds a headline over busy imagery, and its limit is the other end of the scale: at small sizes the tight spacing and closed apertures make long words hard to scan, so it belongs in headings and signage.

Concrete hierarchy, scale and production guidance tailored to Base Edge’s stroke geometry.
The heavy weight stays legible over a full-bleed photograph, and the tight setting fits a long headline into two short lines.
Hierarchy & layout recipe
Print a 210 by 280 mm page: set the headline at 64 pt across two lines, keep 18 mm of clear ground beneath before the standfirst at 10 pt, and keep 16 mm of margin from the text block.
Pre-production check
Closed apertures fill at 12 pt; check the printed page before setting a long caption block.
The block weight reads from a doorway and from across a street, and the flat terminals cut cleanly in cut vinyl lettering.
Hierarchy & layout recipe
Print a 900 by 300 mm panel: set the name at 90 mm on one row, keep 30 mm of clear ground beneath before the floor line at 16 mm, and keep 32 mm of border so the terminals keep their edge.
Pre-production check
Tight spacing bridges on cut vinyl; check a weeding test before the vinyl panel is produced.
The heavy line gives a lecture poster a single strong element, and the cream on a dark ground reads in a dimly lit corridor.
Hierarchy & layout recipe
Print an A2 poster: set the title at 120 pt across one row, keep 30 mm of clear ground beneath before the speaker at 20 pt, and keep 28 mm of border so the word sits inside the sheet.
Pre-production check
Heavy coverage sets off on cheap stock; check a proof before the poster print order goes out.
