Visual anatomy & craft review
Vintage Melinda is a bold retro-romance brush script with curled swashes: a heavy loaded stroke, a shallow slant, connected letters and swashes that curl off the caps and descenders into a tight spiral. The spirals widen the word and are the finest element, and the loaded weight closes the loops early. It needs roughly 30 mm for the spiral and the brush edge to read, and it is best in one warm ink on cream, or a fine gold on a dark ground where the curls print as bright lines.

A retro-romance brush script reads as a hand-pulled country bill rather than a modern flyer. The spirals hold at 100 mm on a poster, and one warm ink prints the poster and the prize labels in one order.
Hierarchy & layout recipe
Poster A2, word 100 mm with 14 mm spiral clearance, details 36 mm, 20 mm margins. Tent sign 600 x 400 mm, word 90 mm, 25 mm margins. Prize label 90 x 60 mm, word 18 mm, 5 mm margins.
Pre-production check
A 90 x 60 mm prize label at 18 mm fills the spiral into a blob and the word reads as a stain. Raise the label word to 24 mm, and print one label before the batch.
A curled brush script signs a wedding invitation in a hand with a drawn flourish. The spirals hold at 28 pt, and one warm ink on smooth card prints the suite in one order.
Hierarchy & layout recipe
Invitation 130 x 180 mm, names 28 pt with 14 mm spiral clearance, details 9/13 pt, 18 mm margins. Menu 120 x 210 mm, header 16 pt, courses 9/12 pt. Place card 90 x 50 mm, name 14 pt, 4 mm margins.
Pre-production check
At 14 pt on a place card the spiral closes into a comma and the name reads as a typo. Raise place cards to 18 pt, and proof one card before the suite.
A curled brush script reads as a hand-signed boutique mark rather than a corporate logo. The spirals hold at 26 mm on a card, and one ink prints the card and the box in one order.
Hierarchy & layout recipe
Card 85 x 55 mm, word 26 mm with 12 mm spiral clearance, details 7/9 pt, 10 mm margins. Box print 150 x 100 mm, word 40 mm, 12 mm margins. Wrap band 200 x 40 mm, word 16 mm, 6 mm margins.
Pre-production check
On a 200 x 40 mm band the spiral doubles at the fold and reads as a knot. Keep the band to one word in the plain cut, and wrap one band before the order.
