Visual anatomy & craft review
A chunky retro brush script centred in cream white on warm olive mustard: curled vintage capitals pair with plump, loosely spaced lowercase, so the word reads as a nineteen-sixties resort sign rather than as a modern brush script. The strokes are thick and the spacing is generous, which is what keeps a two-word line from turning into a knot, and the brush edges carry a soft dry quality rather than a sharp vector finish. The weight is even enough to cut and weed. The mustard ground is staging. Uses are surf, motel, beach-club and food packaging, where a friendly vintage voice is the whole point.

Concrete hierarchy, scale and production guidance tailored to Tiki Tropic’s stroke geometry.
Thick mid-century brush strokes carry the nostalgia of a nineteen-sixties Waikiki postcard, so a motel key tag or a beach-club towel reads as a period object rather than a modern logo, and the plump shapes survive a small die.
Hierarchy & layout recipe
Print a 60 by 40 mm key tag: the motel at 12 pt, the room number at 20 pt, and two inks on a cream card. Keep 4 mm inside the die and pair the script with ultra-wide-tracked clean sans caps at 7 pt for the location.
Pre-production check
Plump sturdy brush shapes cut and weed cleanly on HTV and permanent vinyl down to 0.8 inch, but any touching join must be welded first. Check the tag at arm's length for legibility.
A friendly chunky weight stays readable from across a shop counter, which is what a single-origin can needs, and the retro brush voice separates a small roaster from the clean sans labels around it on the same shelf.
Hierarchy & layout recipe
Print a 65 by 160 mm can wrap: the brand at 14 pt, the variant at 8 pt, and the volume at 7 pt. Keep 6 mm inside the die, set the script on one line above tracked sans caps, and leave 12 mm clear at the seam.
Pre-production check
Check the 14 pt brand on the curve, where a plump stem can distort; rotate the artwork to follow the can. Confirm the 7 pt volume reads on the shelf and that the wrap registers round the seam.
A retro brush script heads a mid-century cookbook or travel title, and the generous spacing means a long cover line stays open at a size where a tight script would clot, while the mustard and cream palette does the period work.
Hierarchy & layout recipe
Set the title at 70 mm x-height across 180 mm, the subtitle in 11 pt tracked sans caps, and the imprint at 8 pt. Print two colours on a matte stock and keep 22 mm margins with 10 mm between title and subtitle.
Pre-production check
Check the title at 70 mm, where a dry brush edge can clot; keep the counters open. Confirm the 8 pt imprint survives lamination and that the descenders clear the trim.
