Visual anatomy & craft review
Pontiac Inline is a Parisian Art Deco geometric inline sans: extended squared caps, a fine inner rule that follows the contour, stepped shoulders and a strict geometric construction with no curvature in the stems. The inline is the entire design, so it closes when the face is small or overprinted, and the extended width makes words long. It needs roughly 34 mm for the inner rule to read as a line, and it is best in one deep ink on cream, or a metallic on deep green where the inline prints as a bright keyline.

A Parisian Deco inline reads as a brass door plate rather than a modern logo, which is what a cocktail bar wants at its entrance. The inner rule gives the name a lit keyline at 50 mm, and one metallic ink prints the plate and the menu cover from one file.
Hierarchy & layout recipe
Door plate 300 x 120 mm, word 50 mm with 8 mm inline clearance, 15 mm margins. Menu cover 150 x 230 mm, title 36 pt, 15 mm margins. Coaster 95 mm round, word 10 mm, 4 mm die margin.
Pre-production check
A 95 mm coaster at 10 mm closes the inline and the word becomes a solid slab. Use a single letter on the coaster or drop the face there, and print one coaster before the batch.
A geometric Deco inline reads as a drawn title block rather than a headline, which is what an architecture feature wants at the top of the page. The inner rule holds at 64 pt against a plan drawing, and the stepped shoulders align to the grid of the drawing.
Hierarchy & layout recipe
Opener 210 x 297 mm, title 64 pt with 10 mm inline clearance, standfirst 11/15 pt, plan labels 8 mm, 18 mm margins. Cover band 210 x 60 mm, word 40 pt.
Pre-production check
At 8 mm on the plan labels the inline fills and the labels read as solid black tags. Keep labels at 12 mm or set them in a plain sans, and proof one page at 1:1.
A Deco inline gives a winter dinner a formal geometric card rather than a script, which suits a modern table. The inner rule reads at 26 pt on a menu header, and one metallic ink on deep green prints the invitation, the menu and the table cards as a suite.
Hierarchy & layout recipe
Invitation 130 x 180 mm, names 26 pt with 8 mm inline clearance, details 9/13 pt, 15 mm margins. Menu 120 x 210 mm, header 20 pt, courses 9/12 pt. Table card 90 x 50 mm, name 11 pt, 4 mm margins.
Pre-production check
At 11 pt on a table card the inline closes and the name reads as a plain extended block that greys at the table. Raise table cards to 16 pt or use the solid cut, and proof one card before the set.
