Visual anatomy & craft review
Riya is a geometric Art Deco display drawn in three parallel rules, so every stem is a stack of stripes with even white gaps and a sharp corner where the rules turn. The labyrinth effect reads only when the gaps stay open, and the rules are thin enough to need generous size. It needs roughly 40 mm for the three lines to separate, and it is best in gold on deep green or black for print, or one ink on white where the gaps stay largest.

A triple-rule Deco display is the lettering a cocktail bar borrows from the 1920s, so the identity and the menu cover come from a single face. The striped stems give the sign a lit, layered look at 60 mm, and one ink holds the whole set on dark stock where the gaps read as light.
Hierarchy & layout recipe
Door plate 300 x 120 mm, word 50 mm with 6 mm rule gaps, 15 mm margins. Menu cover 150 x 230 mm, title 36 pt, 15 mm margins. Coaster 95 mm round, word 10 mm, 4 mm die margin.
Pre-production check
A 10 mm coaster closes every rule gap and the word becomes a solid slab. Keep the coaster to a single letter or drop the face there, and print one coaster before the batch.
A striped Deco display reads as a designed feature title rather than a headline, which is what an architecture or design issue wants at the opener. The rule stack gives the title vertical rhythm at 72 pt, and the sharp corners hold against a photographic ground when set in one flat ink.
Hierarchy & layout recipe
Opener 210 x 297 mm, title 72 pt with 8 mm rule clearance, standfirst 11/15 pt, 18 mm margins. Pull quote 60 x 180 mm, quote 40 pt, 10 mm margins. Cover band 210 x 60 mm, word 40 pt.
Pre-production check
Over a photograph the thin rules of the title disappear into the mid-tones and the word reads as broken sticks. Lay a solid panel behind the title or print white-only, and check one spread proof at final size.
A Deco triple rule suits a summer garden party because the stripes catch light like a trellis, and the style stays elegant at 30 mm on a card. The even gaps keep the word legible in gold on dark green, which is the palette a warm-weather evening sets.
Hierarchy & layout recipe
Invite 148 x 105 mm, word 30 mm with 5 mm rule gaps, details 9/12 pt, 12 mm margins. Cocktail card 100 x 70 mm, word 12 mm, 5 mm margins. Banner 900 x 300 mm, word 120 mm, 20 mm safe edge.
Pre-production check
Foil on the banner bridges the 1.5 mm gaps between the three rules at 120 mm and the letters print as solid blocks. Use flat ink on the banner, keep foil to titles at 40 pt and below, and pull one foil proof before the run.
