Thin wide geometric slab
Novoid is a thin wide geometric slab in white over a black-and-white photograph of tennis players: capitals with square bowls, small slab ends and thin even strokes, set as one large word across the foot with a four-line credits block at the upper right.

Sturdy stroke walls and open counters weed cleanly on adhesive vinyl, HTV apparel film, and cut cardstock.
Visual anatomy & craft review
The word is set across the bottom of an action photograph, and the thin strokes hold because the background is a mid-tone grey rather than a busy texture. The drawing is a wide geometric capital with square bowls and small slab ends, so the face reads as technical sportswear lettering rather than as a display serif, and the wide fit turns a six-letter word into a band. That construction sets a moderate size floor, because the thin strokes and the small slabs close first. The credits block at the upper right is genuine product copy that names the style and the studio. Because the letters are wide and thin, the face suits a sports mark, a cover and a screen at display size.

Concrete hierarchy, scale and production guidance tailored to Novoid’s stroke geometry.
A wide thin slab reads as sportswear lettering, and the band of type holds over an action photograph at distance. The band reads at distance.
Hierarchy & layout recipe
A2 poster: the event at 110 mm cap height, the heats in a 22 mm sans, and the gate at 11 mm. Keep 28 mm margins and print one colour on a light stock over a halftone.
Pre-production check
Check the A2 at five metres, where a thin stroke can break over a busy halftone; keep it above 3 mm. Confirm the 11 mm gate reads at two metres and that the band clears the trim.
A wide thin mark reads as technical kit, and the square bowls survive embroidery where a rounded face would blur. The squares stitch cleanly.
Hierarchy & layout recipe
Stitch a 110 mm mark on a chest: the name at 22 mm cap height, one thread colour, and a 2 mm satin edge. Keep the narrowest stroke at 2.5 mm and place the mark 80 mm below the collar.
Pre-production check
Check the stitch file at actual size, where a 2.5 mm stroke can break; open it to 3 mm. Confirm the mark reads at three metres and that the slabs stitch without a jump.
A wide thin slab gives a sports cover a technical look, and the band fills a measure with one word. It reads as technical kit.
Hierarchy & layout recipe
Set the title at 95 mm cap height across 200 mm, the subtitle in an 8.5 pt sans, and the year at 7 pt. Print one ink on a matte stock and keep 22 mm margins at the head.
Pre-production check
Check the title at 95 mm, where a thin stroke can break on a matte sheet; keep it above 0.3 mm. Confirm the 7 pt year survives lamination and that the title clears the trim.
