Tall rounded display serif
Midnight Majesty is a tall rounded display serif in gold on cream, presented as a magazine cover: two stacked lines with curled capital entries, round bowls and high contrast, surrounded by a cover frame with a barcode, corner notes and a small serif subtitle beneath.

Visual anatomy & craft review
The plate stages the face as a magazine cover, which is the honest test for a display serif sold to editors: the type has to work beside a barcode, a cover line and a volume number, and here it does because the gold sits above all of that in the visual order. The drawing has tall rounded serifs, curled entries and a high contrast, and the two lines are set tight so the pair reads as one masthead. The cover furniture around it is a mockup rather than part of the family, but it shows the scale relationships — the cover lines at eight point, the volume at seven — that a real layout would use. Because the strokes are fine in the hairlines, the face works at large sizes and on coated stock, and the cream ground keeps the gold readable.

Concrete hierarchy, scale and production guidance tailored to Midnight Majesty’s stroke geometry.
A tall display serif gives a masthead presence, and the tight two-line setting lets a long name occupy the top third of a cover without shrinking.
Hierarchy & layout recipe
Set the masthead at 100 mm cap height across 200 mm in two lines, the cover lines in an 8 pt serif, and the issue at 7 pt. Print one ink on a coated stock and keep the cover lines clear.
Pre-production check
Check the masthead at 100 mm, where a curled entry can touch the line above; keep 12 mm between lines. Confirm the 7 pt issue survives lamination and that the entries stay inside the trim.
A tall rounded serif reads as jewellery, and the curled entries give a name a signature that holds on a box and a bag in foil.
Hierarchy & layout recipe
Set the mark at 18 pt on a box, 90 mm on a bag and 12 pt on a card, keeping the curls only above 20 pt. Keep one colour and reserve clear space equal to the entry height.
Pre-production check
Check the 18 pt box mark in foil, where a hairline can break; keep it above 0.3 mm. Confirm the bag mark reads at four metres and that the curls stay inside the panel.
A tall display serif gives an evening invitation a ceremonial voice, and the contrast reads as luxury on a plain unadorned card.
Hierarchy & layout recipe
A5 invitation: the names at 27 pt, the request in a 9.5 pt serif, and the date at 8.5 pt caps. Keep 26 mm margins and foil one colour on a deep card so the entries read.
Pre-production check
Check the 27 pt names in foil, where a curled entry can break; keep it above 0.3 mm. Confirm the 9.5 pt request reads at arm's length and that the entries clear the trim by 10 mm.
