of Kale.

Kale is a wiggly liquid-jelly cartoon bubble alphabet: each letter is a rounded blob that wobbles along its length, with a soft inner highlight, a thin outer outline and joins that stretch between neighbouring characters. The wobble grows the word in both directions, and the outline closes first when the face is small. It needs roughly 30 mm for the wobble and the outline to read, and it is best in two bright translucent-looking inks on white, or one ink plus a knocked-out highlight on coloured card.

A wiggly jelly alphabet reads as pool inflatables rather than a typeset invitation, which is what a summer birthday wants. The wobble gives the word bounce at 40 mm, and two bright inks print the invite and the menu as one set.

Pre-production check

On a 60 x 90 mm towel tag at 14 mm the wobble smooths out and the word reads as a plain bubble sans. Raise tags to 20 mm, and print one tag on the actual loop card before the batch.

Party invite, cake topper and balloon garland sign

A jelly bubble alphabet announces a party in the lettering itself, so no illustration is needed on the invite. The rounded blobs cut cleanly at 44 mm, and two inks print the invite and the garland sign from one file.

Pre-production check

A 130 mm laser-cut topper drops the inner highlight under 1 mm and it falls out, leaving a hole in the letter. Cut toppers from the plain blob, and test one on a stick before the set.
