Visual anatomy & craft review
Gifan is a bold high-contrast modern serif with heavy vertical pillars, plump teardrop ball terminals on the f and a, and notched architectural spurs on the bowls, so a name reads as a luxury mark rather than as text. The ball terminals are the design and they sit outside the stems, which means the face needs size to keep them round, and the hairlines between the pillars are thin. It needs roughly 28 mm for the teardrops to hold, and it is best in cream on a dark ground or a metallic foil on matte board.

Teardrop terminals and notched spurs read as a couture mark, which is what a small perfume or spirits house prints on a carton. The heavy pillars hold a short product name at 20 pt, and the hairlines print crisply on coated board.
Hierarchy & layout recipe
Carton 55 x 140 x 30 mm, name 20 pt, weight 5.5 pt, 8 mm margins and 4 mm clear of the fold. Label 40 x 70 mm, name 12 pt, 4 mm top arc. Card 85 x 55 mm, name 10 pt, role 5.5 pt.
Pre-production check
A 5.5 pt weight line in a high-contrast serif fills and reads as a grey rule under the name. Keep fine print in a sturdier companion, and check one assembled carton under shop light.
A high-contrast serif with ball terminals reads as a fashion masthead, which is what a culture title wants on a cover. The wide pillars fill the trim with one word, and the teardrops give the title its luxury detail without an illustration.
Hierarchy & layout recipe
Cover 210 x 297 mm, title 100 pt, cover lines 10/14 pt, 18 mm margins and 10 mm trim. Art book 240 x 300 mm, title 60 pt, captions 9/13 pt. Poster A2, word 300 mm, details 22/28 pt, 30 mm margins.
Pre-production check
A web-offset run drops 0.09 mm hairlines and the counters break open on the a. Confirm coated stock and a 0.12 mm floor, and check one printed signature before the full run.
Plump ball terminals read as engraved stationery, which is what a black-tie wedding wants. The face holds a long couple name at 28 pt with the teardrops intact, and the hairlines foil into fine strokes on smooth card.
Hierarchy & layout recipe
Invitation 130 x 180 mm, names 28 pt, details 9/13 pt, 15 mm margins and 10 mm trim. Menu 120 x 210 mm, header 16 pt, dishes 9/13 pt. Place card 90 x 50 mm, name 9 pt on an 11 pt leading.
Pre-production check
Block foil on a 0.2 mm hairline breaks and the place-card names arrive with gaps in the thins. Foil only at 24 pt and above, print the rest in ink, and pull one foil proof.
