Sturdy stroke walls and open counters weed cleanly on adhesive vinyl, HTV apparel film, and cut cardstock.
Visual anatomy & craft review
Gc Grind is a heavy condensed inktrap display sans: very narrow squared stems, small triangular traps cut into the joins where two strokes meet, a tall cap height and tight counters that read as a stencil-cut industrial headline. The traps are the design and they fill into solid corners as soon as the face is printed small. It needs roughly 24 mm for the trap and the condensed stem to read, and it is best in one dense ink on uncoated stock, or a single white on a dark ground where the traps print as cut notches.

A condensed inktrap sans reads as a stamped works plate rather than a designed logo, which is what a workshop wants at its door. The traps hold at 40 mm on a plate, and one ink prints the plate and the card in one order.
Hierarchy & layout recipe
Door plate 300 x 80 mm, word 40 mm with 6 mm trap clearance, 10 mm margins. Card 85 x 55 mm, word 18 mm, 5 mm margins. Letterhead 210 x 297 mm, word 26 mm, 20 mm margins.
Pre-production check
On an 85 x 55 mm card the traps close and the name reads as a barcode. Raise the card word to 24 mm, and check one card before the run.
A condensed inktrap sans packs a long title in a narrow column and reads as a printed report. The traps hold at 30 pt on a cover, and the narrow stems set a dense data table without wrapping.
Hierarchy & layout recipe
Cover 210 x 297 mm, title 30 pt with 6 mm trap clearance, body 9/13 pt over two columns of 82 mm, 18 mm margins. Section head 20 pt. Data table 8/11 pt with 40 mm columns.
Pre-production check
At 8 pt in the data table the traps fill and the figures read as a solid column. Set tables in the text weight at 8.5 pt, and proof one page at 1:1.
A condensed inktrap sans fits a long stall name on a narrow board and holds up in bad light. The stems hold at 100 mm on a board, and one white ink prints the board from a dark ground.
Hierarchy & layout recipe
Board 600 x 900 mm, word 100 mm with 12 mm trap clearance, items 26 mm, 30 mm margins. Price card 105 x 75 mm, item 18 mm, price 24 mm. Bag print 200 x 250 mm, word 50 mm, 15 mm margins.
Pre-production check
A 105 x 75 mm price card at 18 mm fills the traps and the item reads as a bar under the market lamp. Raise the item to 24 mm, and check one card in the actual light.
