Frostbite Christmas is a snow-dusted nineteen-seventies groovy bubble display: fat rounded letters with a soft outline, a groovy baseline that rises and falls across the word, and a dusting of snow drawn as small white caps on the upper edge. The snow needs bare paper to read, and the groovy baseline grows the word vertically. It needs roughly 32 mm for the snow cap and the outline to read, and it is best in one deep ink on bright white, or a two-colour build on pale blue where the snow stays paper.

Pre-production check

Printed on cream or kraft the snow caps fill with pale ink instead of paper and the letters read as damaged. Print on bright white only, and check one card on the actual stock before the batch.

Winter

New Year card, dinner menu and hostess tag

A groovy bubble with snow reads as a warm winter greeting rather than a formal one, which suits a New Year dinner at home. The rolling baseline holds at 22 mm on a menu header, and one ink on white prints the card, the menu and the tags as one suite.

A 130 mm laser-cut topper drops the snow cap under 1 mm and it falls out, leaving a hole in the letter. Cut the topper to the inner silhouette, and test one on a stick before the party.
