Visual anatomy & craft review
Etta is a heavy Y2K display in which solid black block capitals sit inside a jagged white starburst halo that reads as a comic explosion. The core letters are plain and heavy, so a short word stays legible through the points, and the halo adds a large art box that must be reserved on all sides. Because the burst is white, it works over photographic or noisy backgrounds where a plain letter would disappear, and the face needs roughly 40 mm overall for the points to read as an explosion rather than a rough edge.

A starburst halo reads as a printed explosion, which is the Y2K reference a streetwear drop wants. The white burst separates the mark from a photographic sleeve.
Hierarchy & layout recipe
Chest print 260 x 200 mm, panel 200 mm wide including burst, 40 mm from the collar. Badge 60 mm round, word 16 mm, 2 mm die margin. Sticker 90 x 70 mm, panel 70 mm, 3 mm die margin.
Pre-production check
Burst points under 2 mm tear on a die-cut sticker and the explosion looks chewed. Keep points at 3 mm minimum, use a rounded-rectangle die, and pull one sticker before printing the sheet.
The burst lets a title survive a busy photographic background without a scrim, which is what hyperpop artwork is built on. Heavy cores stay readable at thumbnail size.
Hierarchy & layout recipe
Cover 312 x 312 mm plus 3 mm bleed, panel 200 mm wide, credits 7 pt. Flyer A5, panel 110 mm wide, lineup 9/12 pt. Spread 420 x 297 mm, panel 160 mm, body 9/13 pt.
Pre-production check
Streaming thumbnails at 55 px turn the burst into a white blob. Check one render at that size, and keep the title to one short word so the silhouette still reads.
A bright burst reads in glaring outdoor light, where a plain white letter disappears. The heavy core survives a woven wristband's low resolution.
Hierarchy & layout recipe
Poster 500 x 700 mm, panel 300 mm wide, details 18/24 pt, 40 mm margins. Banner 2000 x 600 mm, panel 400 mm, 120 mm margins. Wristband 250 x 25 mm, word 6 mm, 3 mm fold clearance.
Pre-production check
A woven wristband cannot hold fine burst points, and the explosion becomes a fuzzy ring. Simplify to the core letters on the band, and check one woven proof at 1:1 before the event.
