Sturdy stroke walls and open counters weed cleanly on adhesive vinyl, HTV apparel film, and cut cardstock.
Visual anatomy & craft review
Eastwood is a retro Western slab display with swash caps: heavy bracketed slabs, a flared stem that widens at the foot, and capital letters that open into long curled swashes above the line. The swashes grow the word box upward, and the flared feet are the first thing to close at small sizes. It needs roughly 32 mm for the flare and the swash curl to read, and it is best in one warm ink on sand and cream, or a single deep colour on a pale board where the flare prints as a clean wedge.

A swashed Western slab reads as a roadhouse sign rather than a modern restaurant logo, which is what a grill house wants above its door. The flared feet hold at 90 mm on enamel, and one ink prints the sign, the menu board and the card from one separation.
Hierarchy & layout recipe
Enamel sign 600 x 400 mm, word 90 mm with 12 mm swash clearance, 30 mm margins. Menu board 600 x 900 mm, header 80 mm, items 26 mm, 30 mm margins. Card 85 x 55 mm, word 14 mm, 5 mm margins.
Pre-production check
At 14 mm on the card the swash above the cap fills into a solid curl and the name reads as a blot. Keep the card at 20 mm or use the plain cut, and print one card before the order.
A Western slab with swashes gives a feature about land or small business the weight of a painted bill. The swashes carry the title at 60 pt without an illustration, and the heavy slabs survive one-ink print on an uncoated text stock.
Hierarchy & layout recipe
Opener 210 x 297 mm, title 60 pt with 10 mm swash clearance, standfirst 11/15 pt, body 9/13 pt in two columns, 18 mm margins. Pull quote 40 pt. Section rule 180 mm wide.
Pre-production check
At 40 pt on the pull quote the bracket fills and the quote reads as a fat bar rather than a letter. Keep the face at 50 pt and above, set pull quotes in the body serif, and proof one spread at 1:1.
A swashed Western slab reads as a printed barn dance bill, which is what an autumn community event wants on a fence. The flares hold at 120 mm, and one warm ink prints the poster, the tickets and the crate stamp in a single order.
Hierarchy & layout recipe
Poster A2, word 120 mm with 14 mm swash clearance, details 34 mm, 20 mm margins. Ticket 100 x 50 mm, word 12 mm, 4 mm perforation. Crate stamp 200 x 100 mm, word 50 mm, 15 mm margins.
Pre-production check
A 100 x 50 mm ticket at 12 mm closes the flared foot and the word prints as a plain slab. Print tickets at 18 mm or use the plain cut, and check one ticket before the batch.
