Sturdy stroke walls and open counters weed cleanly on adhesive vinyl, HTV apparel film, and cut cardstock.
Visual anatomy & craft review
Desert Cowboy is a hand-hewn wood-type Western slab with softened waist spurs, bracketed feet and organic carved edges, so a word reads as a letterpress block cut from soft wood rather than a distressed texture. The carved edge sits on the contour only, which keeps the counters clean at 18 mm, and the heavy weight holds in one ink. It needs roughly 24 mm for the carved edge to read, and it is best in saddle brown on cream or in one dark ink on kraft.

Wood-type slabs read as a mark pressed into a feed sack, which is what a ranch supplier prints. The carved edge gives the label age in one ink, and the bracketed feet hold a long product name at 18 mm.
Hierarchy & layout recipe
Label 80 x 60 mm, name 16 mm, weight 5 pt, 4 mm die margin. Sack print 300 x 200 mm, word 70 mm, 30 mm margins. Tag 60 x 40 mm, word 10 mm with 2 mm shoulder clearance.
Pre-production check
A hot stamp into a leather tag spreads the fill and the carved contour closes into a smooth edge. Widen the die by 0.3 mm around the spurs, and press one test tag before the order.
A wood-type slab reads as an award cut rather than printed, which is what a rural crew thank-you wants. The heavy weight engraves cleanly at 10 mm, and one ink on a card covers a whole season set.
Hierarchy & layout recipe
Plaque 250 x 150 mm, word 30 mm, year 10 mm, 20 mm margins and 8 mm engraved margin. Card 148 x 105 mm, heading 14 mm, message 7/10 pt. Ticket 90 x 50 mm, word 12 mm, 3 mm margins.
Pre-production check
An engraved plaque cuts the 1 mm carved contour into a groove that fills with polish and the edge reads as a scratch. Engrave the smooth outline style for plates, and inspect one before the order.
Hand-hewn slabs read as a fair board painted on soft timber, which is what an autumn market posts at the gate. The carved edge survives a one-colour print, and the heavy weight holds a short word at 170 mm.
Hierarchy & layout recipe
Sign 900 x 600 mm, word 170 mm, 60 mm margins and 25 mm frame clearance. Label 70 x 95 mm, word 16 mm, 5 mm top arc. Board 600 x 400 mm, header 60 mm, items 24 mm on a 34 mm pitch.
Pre-production check
A label printed on kraft lets the carved edge wick and the word loses definition at 16 mm. Print on a coated label or raise the name to 20 mm, and check one applied label on a bottle.
