Varsity block caps with a sweeping layered script
College Crest joins a heavy varsity block with a bolder script that crosses it at the baseline, so the two lines overlap and the script looks stitched over the capitals.

Visual anatomy & craft review
The layout is a crest, not a line of type: COLLEGE is set in navy block capitals with a white inline, a dark offset shadow and a shallow arc, and Crest is set in a red script with a white outline that begins over the C of the upper word and finishes past its final E. The script is heavier than the block and moves the opposite way, so the two shapes interlock where the baseline crosses. Small stars, rules, a mountain badge with EST. 2024 and a tracked footer sit inside a double-rule frame on cream, and every one of those pieces is drawn to the same weight so the crest reads as one object. The arc is the part that matters for reproduction: the block letters are individually rotated rather than stretched.

A layered crest with a script across it is the standard device for team identity, and this pair supplies both the block and the overlapping script so the back print needs no outside artwork.
Hierarchy & layout recipe
Size the crest to 260 mm wide on the back panel, keep the script's outline at least 3 mm after scaling so the two colours stay separate, and keep the crest 60 mm below the collar seam.
Pre-production check
Embroidery needs each colour as its own stitch file; check where the script crosses the block, because that overlap is where the registration will drift.
A crest gives a season preview a visual identity that a plain headline cannot supply, and the layered block-and-script shape reads as institutional without needing a real team's mark.
Hierarchy & layout recipe
Run the crest at 120 mm wide at the top of the spread, set the headline in a neutral serif at 40 pt beneath it, and keep the standfirst at 10 pt starting 8 mm under the crest's lowest rule.
Pre-production check
The arc makes the crest taller on one side; measure from the lowest star rather than the frame when you set the space below it.
A club needs a mark that survives being printed on a shirt, a banner and a membership card, and a heavy block with a script across it scales down to the small sizes without losing its shape.
Hierarchy & layout recipe
Build the crest at 60 mm for the shirt, 150 mm for the banner and 18 mm for the card, and check that the script still separates from the block at the smallest of the three.
Pre-production check
At 18 mm the white inline inside the block caps collapses; drop the inline on the small version instead of shrinking the whole crest.
