of Spooky Halloween.
Spooky Halloween is a nineteen-seventies groovy novelty in which the counters hold ghost and jack-o'-lantern shapes: fat rounded letters with a soft outline, a wobbling baseline and a bonus outline cut plus a small icon set. The counter figures are the design and close first when the face shrinks, and the icons repeat the same wobble. It needs roughly 32 mm for the ghost and the outline to read, and it is best in one warm orange on white, or two inks on a dark ground where the outline prints as paper.

Pre-production check
A cup wrap printed across the taper doubles the counter figure at the seam and the word reads as a row of faces. Keep the word inside the flat 60 mm centre band, and wrap one cup before the party.
Halloween-issue header, cover flash and section head
A novelty counter display turns a seasonal page into a visual joke, which is what a light feature wants at the top. The wobble holds at 48 pt, and the bonus outline cut supplies a second voice in the same family.

Header 48 pt with 8 mm outline clearance, body 10/14 pt over two columns of 82 mm, 18 mm margins and a 10 mm trim. Cover flash 90 x 60 mm, word 32 pt, 6 mm margins to the trim. Section head 24 pt, 10 mm above and 6 mm below.
Pre-production check
At 24 pt on the section head the counters turn to dirt and the head reads as a stained bar. Keep the face at 40 pt and above, and proof one spread at 1:1.
