Crisp hairline serifs shine on stationery, foil stamping, and packaging; add slight offset for small decals.
Visual anatomy & craft review
Candeur is an ultra-bold modern display serif with reverse stress and high contrast: the horizontal strokes carry the weight while the verticals thin, stems are almost solid and the axis runs the opposite way to a classic serif, with small sharp serifs at the top and bottom. The inverted stress is the design and it reads as a solid block at a distance. It needs roughly 30 mm for the reverse stress to read, and it is best in one dense ink on coated stock, or a single white on a dark ground.

Concrete hierarchy, scale and production guidance tailored to Candeur’s stroke geometry.
A reverse-stress serif reads as a modern fashion mark rather than a classic engraved label. The stress holds at 30 mm on a card, and one dense ink prints the card and the box in one order.
Hierarchy & layout recipe
Card 85 x 55 mm, word 30 mm with 8 mm serif clearance, details 7/9 pt, 8 mm margins. Box print 200 x 150 mm, word 50 mm, 12 mm margins. Letterhead 210 x 297 mm, word 34 mm, 20 mm margins.
Pre-production check
On an 85 x 55 mm card the thin verticals silt and the name reads as a solid block. Raise the card word to 36 mm, and check one card before the run.
A reverse-stress serif turns a fashion cover into a printed mark rather than a styled headline. The weight holds at 84 pt on a coated cover, and the inverted axis reads at newsstand distance.
Hierarchy & layout recipe
Cover 210 x 297 mm, title 84 pt with 12 mm serif clearance, cover lines 10/14 pt over two columns of 82 mm, 18 mm margins and a 12 mm head. Opener 60 pt. Section head 30 pt.
Pre-production check
At 30 pt on the section head the thin verticals break up and the head reads as a striped block. Keep the face at 48 pt and above, and proof one spread at 1:1.
A reverse-stress serif gives a contemporary wedding a plate with none of the usual script flourishes. The weight holds at 30 pt on an invitation, and one dense ink prints the invitation and the menu in one order.
Hierarchy & layout recipe
Invitation 130 x 180 mm, names 30 pt with 10 mm serif clearance, details 9/13 pt, 18 mm margins. Menu 120 x 210 mm, header 18 pt, courses 9/12 pt. Seal 38 mm round, monogram 22 mm, 3 mm die margin.
Pre-production check
A 38 mm seal at a 22 mm monogram fills the thin verticals into a solid disc. Use the initials alone on seals, and pour one seal before the batch.
