The capital H opens with a loop that travels above the x-height and returns, and every ascender in the first word carries a hairline curl that ends in a point well outside the letter's width. The second word repeats the device at a larger size, with a C that encloses a full loop and a descending flourish that sweeps under the whole word. Contrast is extreme: downstrokes are solid and the flourishes are hairlines, so the word looks cut rather than written, and the counters stay open so the ornaments never close the letters.
