Visual anatomy & craft review
Brocore is a spiky underground death-metal blackletter in a regular and an outline cut: dense broken strokes with hairline spikes shooting off the shoulders and terminals, a heavy vertical rhythm and counters reduced to thin slits. The spikes are the design and they vanish as soon as the face is printed small or reversed, and they extend the word in all directions. It needs roughly 34 mm for the spike and the slit to read, and it is best in one dense ink on white, or a single white on a black ground where only the spikes survive.

A spiked blackletter turns a metal feature into its own gig flyer. The spikes hold at 72 pt on a coated cover, and one ink keeps every hairline crisp against a dark ground.
Hierarchy & layout recipe
Cover 210 x 297 mm, title 72 pt with 14 mm spike clearance, cover lines 10/14 pt over two columns of 82 mm, 18 mm margins and a 12 mm head. Opener 52 pt. Section head 26 pt.
Pre-production check
At 26 pt on the section head the slits fill and the spikes merge into a solid mass. Keep the face at 44 pt and above, and proof one spread at 1:1.
A spiked blackletter reads as a scratched bill rather than a cartoon monster, which is what a fright night wants at the gate. The spikes hold at 120 mm on a poster, and one ink prints the poster and the tickets in one order.
Hierarchy & layout recipe
Poster A2, word 120 mm with 14 mm spike clearance, details 40 mm, 20 mm margins. Ticket 100 x 50 mm, word 12 mm, 4 mm perforation. Door sign 250 x 350 mm, word 60 mm, 20 mm margins.
Pre-production check
A 100 x 50 mm ticket at 12 mm merges the spikes into a barbed bar. Raise the ticket to 18 mm, and print one ticket before the batch.
A spiked blackletter reads as a hand-painted shop window rather than a corporate logo. The spikes hold at 26 mm on a card, and the outline cut supplies a second voice for the door.
Hierarchy & layout recipe
Card 85 x 55 mm, word 26 mm with 10 mm spike clearance, details 7/9 pt, 8 mm margins. Door decal 200 x 300 mm, word 60 mm, 20 mm margins. Sign 600 x 400 mm, word 90 mm, 25 mm margins.
Pre-production check
A 200 x 300 mm decal at 60 mm traps air in the spike gaps and the vinyl lifts at every point. Use a wet-apply method, and apply one decal before the run.
