Solid angular blackletter with diamond joins and a long y
Avenakrypte is a blackletter display face drawn with flat angled strokes, diamond-cut feet and much wider counters than the historical model, so the letters look sharpened rather than densely woven.

Sturdy stroke walls and open counters weed cleanly on adhesive vinyl, HTV apparel film, and cut cardstock.
Visual anatomy & craft review
Avenakrypte fills the frame in white on black, and the letterforms are built from straight broken strokes rather than the curved stems of a textura: the A and the k meet in sharp points, the e and the r carry open bowls, and every stem ends in a diamond that is cut flat on one side. The counters are wide enough that the word reads at poster distance, which is unusual for a gothic face of this weight, and the spacing is generous so the letters never touch. Above the title a spaced caption sits between rules with small geometric ornaments, and below it two lines name the style and list three qualities divided by diamonds. It is a display blackletter for titles, merch and dark editorial, and it behaves well in one colour because there is no fill or texture to lose.

Concrete hierarchy, scale and production guidance tailored to Avenakrypte’s stroke geometry.
The sharp letters set a gothic mood at poster scale, and the open counters keep the date readable from a path rather than only from arm's length.
Hierarchy & layout recipe
Print an A2 poster: set the attraction name at 120 pt across one row, keep 32 mm of clear ground beneath before the date at 14 pt, and hold 26 mm of margin so the diamond feet stay inside the trim.
Pre-production check
Fine diamond points break when trimmed; print one poster at the final size and check a foot before the run.
The face carries a medieval reference without the density that makes most blackletters unreadable on a bottle, and one colour keeps the label affordable.
Hierarchy & layout recipe
Print a 60 by 100 mm label: set the ale name at 22 pt on one row, keep 8 mm of clear ground beneath before the strength at 5 pt, and hold 6 mm from the widest letter to the die line.
Pre-production check
Open counters still close on a curved label; print one label and roll it onto the bottle before the batch.
The angular gothic gives a scholarly book a period cover without the illegible density of a replica textura, and the wide counters survive a small jacket.
Hierarchy & layout recipe
Print a 152 by 229 mm cover: set the title at 54 pt across two rows, keep 22 mm of clear ground beneath before the author at 11 pt, and hold 15 mm from the widest letter to the spine edge.
Pre-production check
White on black reverses need an ink base; print one cover in the real process and check the hairlines first.
