Starry whimsical handwriting

Whimsy Christmas

Whimsy Christmas is a whimsical handwriting face in white on pink: thin strokes with tall quirky letters, stars standing in for the dots and the crossings, a light outline and a slight bounce, so the pair reads as a seasonal card written with a fine pen and sprinkled with stars.

Visual anatomy & craft review

Letterform structure
of Whimsy Christmas.

The two words are stacked and the drawing is hand lettering at a light weight: the strokes are even, the ascenders are tall, and the letterforms are simplified, which keeps the phrase readable while looking written. The stars replace the dots above the i and the crossings on the t, which is the idea that carries the face, and the small sparkles scattered around the plate extend it. Because the stroke is thin, the face needs a large size and a mid-tone ground, and the specimen uses a pink ground with faint line-art trees and ornaments so the white stays legible. A second line of small script beneath names the category, and the whole plate stays in two tones.

Christmas

Card for a seasonal greeting

A starry handwriting face gives a seasonal card a hand-written quality without a heavy script, and the light strokes leave room for a message on the same card.

Hierarchy & layout recipe

A6 card: the greeting at 30 pt, the message in a 9 pt roman at 13 pt leading, and three small stars. Keep 12 mm margins and print white or a light ink on a mid-tone card so the thin strokes read.

Pre-production check

Check the 30 pt greeting, where a star can close a counter; keep the stars clear of the letterforms. Confirm the 9 pt message reads comfortably and that the card still reads on a dark table.

Brand & packaging

Label for a seasonal candle

A light handwritten label reads as hand-lettered wrapping, and the star details give a small seasonal range its identity without an illustration.

Hierarchy & layout recipe

Print a 55 mm round label: the scent at 14 pt, the brand in a 6 pt sans, and one star. Keep 4 mm inside the die and print one ink on a mid-tone stock so the light strokes stay visible.

Pre-production check

Check the 14 pt scent on a mid-tone label, where a thin stroke can fade; keep the contrast high. Confirm the 6 pt brand reads on the shelf and that the label adheres to a matte jar.

Thank you

Card for a winter thank-you

A starry hand face gives a thank-you card a seasonal note without a Christmas greeting, and the light stroke leaves space for a written message.

Hierarchy & layout recipe

A6 folded card: the greeting at 28 pt, the message in a 9 pt roman, and a small star at the foot. Keep 14 mm margins and print one ink on a cream card so the strokes stay crisp.

Pre-production check

Check the 28 pt greeting, where a thin stroke can break on a home printer; keep the stroke above 0.5 mm. Confirm the 9 pt message reads comfortably and that the card folds without cracking the print.
