Visual anatomy & craft review
Bone Outline builds each letter and numeral out of hollow cartoon femur bones, with a grinning skull standing in for the O, and it ships as OTF, TTF, SVG, DXF, PDF and EPS so a cutter can run the shapes directly. The bones are drawn as closed outlines, which means the letter reads as a scaffold rather than a filled shape, and the construction needs roughly 30 mm for the joints to read as joints. It is a Halloween display for signs, shirts and props, and it is at its best in one dark outline on a pale ground.

Concrete hierarchy, scale and production guidance tailored to Bone Outline’s stroke geometry.
Bone-built letters read as a prop assembled from parts, which is what a skeleton theme wants. The supplied vector files let a home cutter produce the same shapes without redrawing.
Hierarchy & layout recipe
Sign 600 x 400 mm, word 120 mm, 40 mm margins and 20 mm clear of any fixing. Bag panel 200 x 250 mm, word 50 mm, 20 mm margins. Banner 900 x 300 mm, word 110 mm, 40 mm margins, 60 mm pitch between letters.
Pre-production check
Bone joints under 3 mm tear on a vinyl cut and the letter falls apart into sticks. Keep joints at 4 mm, cut from the SVG rather than a traced bitmap, and check one weeded letter before the set.
Bone outlines read as a novelty mark rather than a text face, which suits a seasonal product line. The closed-outline build gives a single-colour sticker with an interior pattern for free.
Hierarchy & layout recipe
Sticker 70 x 50 mm, word 20 mm, 3 mm die margin and 3 mm clear of the cut. Label 80 x 60 mm, word 14 mm, 4 mm border. Shirt print 260 x 160 mm, word 70 mm, 35 mm margins and 50 mm from the collar.
Pre-production check
A hollow outline under 1 mm at 20 mm closes on a small sticker and the bones fill. Print one test sticker at final size, and increase the word rather than thinning the outline.
Bone letterforms read as a designed prop rather than a font sample, which suits a zine or event programme cover. The outline keeps the cover light while the skull O gives it a focal letter.
Hierarchy & layout recipe
Zine A5, header 60 mm, body 8.5/12 pt, 12 mm margins. Poster A2, word 260 mm, details 22/28 pt, 30 mm margins. Programme A5, title 30 mm, listings 8.5/12 pt, 12 mm margins.
Pre-production check
A skull glyph at 30 mm loses its jaw detail on a photocopy. Print one test cover on the actual machine, and drop to the plain O if the skull reads as a smudge.
