Blackletter with spiral flourishes
Spiral Gothic is a blackletter in black on pale mint: heavy vertical stems, hairline joins and sharp terminals, with spiral flourishes growing out of the S and the G and a small line beneath in the same hand.

Visual anatomy & craft review
Two words are stacked on a plain page and the face is a blackletter with ornament: the stems are heavy and vertical, the joins are hairlines, the terminals break into small spikes, the S and the G carry spiral flourishes that grow out of the letter and curl back, and the lowercase keeps the angular, broken forms of the gothic tradition. Because the sample is set on a pale ground with nothing else on the page, the letterforms and the spirals are the whole design, which makes it a fair specimen: the buyer sees the face rather than a scene. A third line beneath, in the same hand at a smaller size, names the studio, and the palette is a single black on mint. Spiral Gothic is a decorative face for music artwork, event posters, packaging and editorial covers with a gothic mood, and it needs one or two short words at a large size and a plain ground.

A blackletter with spirals sets a ceremonial tone, and the ornament inside the letters carries the design without an illustration.
Hierarchy & layout recipe
Print a 420 by 594 mm poster: set the title at 110 pt over two lines, keep 34 mm of clear ground beneath before the date at 20 pt, and hold 24 mm of margin on all four sides.
Pre-production check
Hairline joins can drop out at large sizes on uncoated stock; proof one sheet on the intended paper before the run.
A blackletter gives a cover its period, and the spirals add detail that a plain text face would need an illustration to match.
Hierarchy & layout recipe
Print a 135 by 205 mm cover: set the title at 46 pt over two lines, keep 20 mm of clear ground beneath before the author at 11 pt, and hold 14 mm of margin on all four sides.
Pre-production check
Fine spikes can break in a small print; keep the title above forty points and proof the cover.
A blackletter gives a bottle a heritage presence, and the spirals read at the size of a label where a plain gothic would look flat.
Hierarchy & layout recipe
Print a 55 by 90 mm label: set the brand at 15 pt on one line, keep 6 mm of clear ground beneath before the proof at 4.5 pt, and hold 4 mm of margin on all four sides.
Pre-production check
Ornament inside a letter can fill at fifteen points; print one label on the real stock and check.
