Retro western varsity slab
Retro Varsity is a western-flavoured varsity slab in orange and coral on a sage ground: heavy rounded slabs with deep shoulders, a slight bounce and an extrusion on one line, flanked by a striped border top and bottom with a tracked line naming the category beneath.

Sturdy stroke walls and open counters weed cleanly on adhesive vinyl, HTV apparel film, and cut cardstock.
Visual anatomy & craft review
The two words are stacked and each letter is a heavy rounded slab: the shoulders are deep, the serifs are soft, and the counters are narrow, which gives the block a western feel without the sharp spurs of a classic wanted poster. The extrusion on the second line steps down at a fixed distance, and the bounce keeps the pair from looking like a grid. The striped border at the top and bottom does the period work and frames the block like a pennant. Because the letters are heavy, the face reads at banner size and on fabric, and the tracked line beneath is set in a condensed caps face at a fraction of the size. The palette is two warm tones on a muted ground.

Concrete hierarchy, scale and production guidance tailored to Retro Varsity’s stroke geometry.
A western varsity slab reads as a period pennant, and the heavy rounded forms hold at poster size where a classic western face would look sharp.
Hierarchy & layout recipe
A2 portrait: the event at 120 mm cap height with a 10 mm extrusion, the dates in a 22 mm slab, and the venue at 12 mm. Keep 30 mm margins and print three colours on a muted ground.
Pre-production check
Check the poster at five metres, where the extrusion can merge with the letters; keep the step above 8 mm. Confirm the 12 mm venue reads at three metres and that the striped border clears the trim.
A warm western slab reads as a smokehouse product, and the heavy rounded letters stay legible at label size where a sharper face would clot.
Hierarchy & layout recipe
Print a 60 by 90 mm label: the sauce at 16 pt, the heat level in a 7 pt slab, and the weight at 6 pt. Keep 5 mm inside the die and print three colours on a coated stock.
Pre-production check
Check the 16 pt sauce on a curved bottle, where the outer letters distort; reduce the width. Confirm the 6 pt weight reads on the shelf and that the die clears the serifs.
A western slab prints as a two-screen graphic and reads as a themed shirt, and the rounded forms survive a wash better than sharp spurs.
Hierarchy & layout recipe
Print a 260 mm chest graphic: the phrase at 55 mm cap height, a 4 mm extrusion, and two inks on a light shirt. Keep the thinnest serif at 4 mm and place the graphic 80 mm below the collar.
Pre-production check
Check the screen at actual mesh, where a 4 mm serif fills; thicken it. Wash-test one shirt and confirm the extrusion stays aligned after five cycles.
