Letterform structure
of Preppycrush.
Two words are stacked and the face is a tall rounded display: the stems are narrow with fully rounded tops and bottoms, the bowls close into small ovals, the P and the R keep tight counters and the H and the N have straight sides, while the letters are set very close so each word reads as a column of bars. Each letter is described by a heavy white edge with a soft shadow, which lifts the block off the page and lets it sit on a busy cover or a notebook without a panel behind it. The proportions are what make it work: tall letters fit a long word into two lines on a small format, and the rounding keeps a heavy face friendly. Two tracked capital lines name the face and its uses, and a small round badge sits in the corner. Preppy Crush is a display face for teen apparel, notebook covers, stickers and party goods, and it needs one or two short words and a light ground.
