Outlined blackletter with doubled edges
Piper is an outlined blackletter in black on aged cream: a large curled P with doubled edges, narrow bodies, a diamond counter and fine inner lines, set as one large word above a scroll-flanked line that names the bundle and two format marks.

Sturdy stroke walls and open counters weed cleanly on adhesive vinyl, HTV apparel film, and cut cardstock.
Visual anatomy & craft review
The plate is a package cover rather than a specimen, and that is honest for a bundle: the word is the display cut, the scrolls and the format marks tell the buyer what is inside, and the aged paper names the register. The drawing is an outlined blackletter where every stroke is drawn twice, so the letters read as engraved rather than as written, and the diamond counter in the P gives the word its centre of interest. That construction sets a large size floor, because the doubled edges merge first, and the plate sets the word large enough that the outline reads. The scrolls and the format marks are supplied ornament and product copy. It suits a cover, a label and a certificate.

Concrete hierarchy, scale and production guidance tailored to Piper’s stroke geometry.
An outlined blackletter gives a certificate ceremony, and the doubled edges simulate engraving without a foil pass. The outline reads as engraving.
Hierarchy & layout recipe
A4 certificate: the names at 40 mm cap height, the date at 14 pt, and the seal at 45 mm. Keep 20 mm margins, print two colours on a heavy card and rule a border 10 mm inside the trim.
Pre-production check
Check the 40 mm names, where the doubled edges can merge; keep the gap above 0.4 mm. Confirm the 14 pt date reads at arm's length and that the names clear the border.
An outlined gothic reads as an engraved bill, and the doubled edges hold on a dark poster where a solid face would look flat.
Hierarchy & layout recipe
A2 poster: the event at 100 mm cap height, the details in a 14 mm serif, and the venue at 11 mm. Keep 32 mm margins and print two colours on a dark stock.
Pre-production check
Check the A2 at five metres, where the outline can close; keep the gap above 2 mm. Confirm the 11 mm venue reads at two metres and that the scrolls clear the title.
An outlined label reads as an engraved bottle, and the doubled edges survive foil where a hairline face would not. Foil holds the outline.
Hierarchy & layout recipe
Print a 55 by 85 mm label: the house at 12 pt, the expression at 8 pt, and the year at 7 pt. Keep 5 mm inside the die and keep the outline gap above 0.4 mm in foil.
Pre-production check
Check the 12 pt house in foil, where the gap can fill; keep it above 0.4 mm. Confirm the 7 pt year reads on the shelf and that the label holds in a cellar.
