Angular gothic display
Oddvane is an angular gothic display in cream on black: narrow broken strokes with sharp spurs, a split B, broad notched feet and a small crown above the title, with a boxed line beneath naming the collection and a ruled line under that.

Sturdy stroke walls and open counters weed cleanly on adhesive vinyl, HTV apparel film, and cut cardstock.
Visual anatomy & craft review
The word spans the plate and the drawing is a gothic at the angular end: the strokes are narrow, the breaks are sharp rather than curved, and the feet are notched, which gives the face the look of a cut sign rather than of a manuscript. The split B is the detail that distinguishes it from a generic gothic, and the plate sets the word large enough that the break reads as a decision. The crown, the corner rules and the boxed line beneath are period furniture that place the face in a traditional context, and the small caps lines are the only plain text on the sheet. Because the strokes are dense and narrow, the face works at display sizes on a smooth ground, and the cream on black keeps the texture legible.

Concrete hierarchy, scale and production guidance tailored to Oddvane’s stroke geometry.
An angular gothic sets a period theme in one line, and the notched feet give a silhouette that reads from across a room.
Hierarchy & layout recipe
A2 poster: the event at 100 mm cap height, the details in a 14 mm serif, and the venue at 11 mm. Keep 30 mm margins and print one colour on a dark stock with the type reversed out.
Pre-production check
Check the poster at five metres, where the breaks can fill; keep them above 1.5 mm. Confirm the 11 mm venue reads at three metres and that the crown clears the trim.
A gothic label reads as a heritage product, and the narrow letters fit a long brand name on a small carton without wrapping.
Hierarchy & layout recipe
Print a 70 by 50 mm label: the brand at 12 pt, the expression at 7 pt, and the strength at 6 pt. Keep 4 mm inside the die and print two colours on a cream stock.
Pre-production check
Check the 12 pt brand on cream stock, where a break can fill; keep the size above 11 pt. Confirm the 6 pt strength reads at arm's length and that the label peels cleanly.
A gothic display frames a novel as a printed plate, and the dense letterforms hold at thumbnail size where a fine serif would fade.
Hierarchy & layout recipe
Set the title at 85 mm cap height across 195 mm, the author in a 12 pt serif, and the imprint at 8 pt. Print one ink on a textured stock and keep the rules at the corners.
Pre-production check
Check the title at 85 mm, where the splits can clot; keep them at least 1.5 mm. Confirm the 8 pt imprint survives lamination and that the rules clear the trim.
