Visual anatomy & craft review
Jestilow is a flowing signature monoline script with more than ninety ligature features: an even thin stroke, a moderate slant and joins that vary through ligatures so the same letter pair can be drawn three ways. The monoline keeps the face honest at small sizes, and the ligature set means a word can be tuned without the skeleton changing. It needs roughly 22 mm for the join and the ligature variant to read, and it is best in one dark ink on smooth card, or a foil impression above 36 pt where the thin line still carries.

A signature monoline reads as the maker's own hand rather than a wordmark, which is what a small studio wants on a card. The ligatures let the name join cleanly at 22 mm, and one ink prints the card and the tag in one pass.
Hierarchy & layout recipe
Card back 85 x 55 mm, word 20 mm with 8 mm join clearance, details 7/9 pt, 5 mm margins. Hang tag 50 x 90 mm, word 14 mm with a 4 mm hole and 8 mm clear. Wrap band 200 x 40 mm, word 14 mm, 6 mm margins.
Pre-production check
On a 50 x 90 mm hang tag at 14 mm the monoline lands near 0.2 mm and a laser printer breaks it into dots. Raise the tag word to 18 mm, and print one tag before the order.
A signature monoline gives a modern wedding a hand-signed invitation rather than an engraved one. The ligatures keep a long double-barrelled name joined at 28 pt, and one ink on smooth card keeps the thin line alive.
Hierarchy & layout recipe
Invitation 130 x 180 mm, names 28 pt with 10 mm join clearance, details 9/13 pt, 15 mm margins. Menu 120 x 210 mm, header 16 pt, courses 9/12 pt. Place card 90 x 50 mm, name 12 pt, 4 mm margins.
Pre-production check
At 12 pt on a place card the join thickens at the turn and two letters knit into one shape. Raise place cards to 15 pt, and proof one card before the suite.
A signature script used as a byline turns a printed column into a signed one, which is what a long-running essay wants at the foot. The monoline holds at 24 pt against a serif body, and the ligatures keep the name from looking mechanically set.
Hierarchy & layout recipe
Column foot 30 x 15 mm signature, 9 pt caption under it. Byline 24 pt with 8 mm join clearance, standfirst 11/15 pt, 18 mm margins. Body 9/13 pt in two columns.
Pre-production check
At 9 pt the byline's joins break into disconnected marks and the signature reads as a stray rule. Keep signatures at 18 pt and above, and proof one page at 1:1.
