Broad looping capital with a very high ascender
Grandma combines a broad looping capital G that returns below the word with a very high d ascender, while the fine joins carry the rest of the line across a portrait.

Visual anatomy & craft review
The capital opens a wide loop, the ascender rises far above the body, the joins stay fine and the loop returns underneath the word to close the shape. The single tall ascender is the character: one letter sets the height and the capital sets the width, which is why the sample frames the word inside one continuous movement. Because the loop returns low and the ascender reaches high, keep 22 mm above and 20 mm below from 26 pt. The loop returns low under the word, so it needs 20 mm beneath as well as 22 mm above the ascender, and the fine joins silt at about 24 pt on an uncoated sheet.

The looped capital frames a pair of names, and the fine joins keep the row light at 26 pt on heavy card stock. The fine joins also keep a formal card light.
Hierarchy & layout recipe
Print a 130 by 180 mm card: set the names at 26 pt, keep 20 mm above for the ascender and 18 mm below for the returning loop, and set the venue at 9 pt in a light serif. Keep the venue line plain.
Pre-production check
A returning loop printed at 20 pt thins to a broken line; check the proof and keep the names at 24 pt or above.
The flowing script suits a note card, and the even stroke keeps a short sentence readable at 26 pt on an A6 sheet. The loop also keeps a note card warm.
Hierarchy & layout recipe
Print an A6 card: set the line at 26 pt across the upper third, keep 14 mm of clear ground beneath the loop, and leave the lower half blank for a written message. Keep the card unfolded at the centre.
Pre-production check
A tall ascender printed into the card margin looks clipped; check the card and keep 14 mm of white above the line.
The handwritten loop suits a jar label, and the broad capital stays clear at 20 pt on a 50 mm panel. The broad capital also keeps a jar label distinct.
Hierarchy & layout recipe
Print a 50 by 45 mm label: set the name at 20 pt, keep 8 mm beneath for the loop, and set the contents in a 6 pt caps at the foot with 4 mm of clear ground. Keep the contents line small.
Pre-production check
Fine joins printed at 16 pt close on an uncoated label; check the proof and keep the name at 19 pt or above. Ask for a proof of the label.
