Chunky faceted blackletter with a curled F and triangular feet
Frostvane is a bold blackletter display face with wide letters, diamond-shaped spurs and a surface that looks pressed into old parchment rather than printed on it.

Sturdy stroke walls and open counters weed cleanly on adhesive vinyl, HTV apparel film, and cut cardstock.
Visual anatomy & craft review
Frostvane fills the upper half of the card in a pale weathered tone against a dark sky over mountain battlements, with two banners hanging at either side. The letters are wider than the usual blackletter and carry diamond details at the tops of the ascenders, a heavy vertical stress and short sharp serifs, so the word reads as ceremonial rather than as dense gothic texture. Above it a spaced caption names an age, with a small cross ornament under it, and beneath the word three spaced words describe the cut, divided by fine rules and a small shield ornament. The lettering is legible at a distance because the counters stay open, which is unusual for the style, and the weathered fill gives the shapes an old printed surface. It is a title face for fantasy books, festivals and labels, and it works best in a centred, symmetrical composition under a dark sky.

Concrete hierarchy, scale and production guidance tailored to Frostvane’s stroke geometry.
The open counters keep a long series title readable at thumbnail size, and the ceremonial diamond spurs give a plain cover the weight of a saga.
Hierarchy & layout recipe
Print a 140 by 216 mm cover: set the title at 58 pt across two rows, keep 26 mm of clear ground beneath before the author at 12 pt, and hold 18 mm from the widest letter to the spine edge.
Pre-production check
Weathered fills dot out under matte lamination; print one cover with the finish and check the surface before the print run.
The lettering sets a period tone that a modern face cannot, and the wide forms stay readable on a banner hung across a field in poor light.
Hierarchy & layout recipe
Print a 1500 by 500 mm banner: set the fair name at 180 pt on one row, keep 45 mm of clear ground beneath before the dates at 22 pt, and hold 50 mm of margin at each end so no spur is cut.
Pre-production check
Hemmed banner edges pull the last letter; print one length and check the end letters after hemming before the full order.
The cold, weathered tone suits a seasonal bottle, and the bold strokes stay readable on a dark label where a fine blackletter would disappear.
Hierarchy & layout recipe
Print a 65 by 100 mm label: set the ale name at 24 pt on one row, keep 8 mm of clear ground beneath before the strength at 5 pt, and hold 6 mm from the diamond spurs to the label edge.
Pre-production check
Metallic inks close the small counters; print one label in the intended finish and check before the case is ordered.
