Visual anatomy & craft review
Dove is a liquid-ribbon monoline display in which the strokes curl into folded ribbons: an even line that loops over and under itself, with a thin white outline separating the ribbon from whatever sits behind it. The outline is what makes the fold read, and it closes first on tinted or busy grounds. The loops grow the word in both directions, so a centred line needs side and vertical clearance. It needs roughly 34 mm for the fold and the outline to read, and it is best in one deep ink on white, or a single metallic on a dark ground where the outline prints as paper.

A liquid-ribbon display reads as a folded strip rather than a logo, which is what a packaging studio wants on its own card. The fold holds at 30 mm, and one ink plus paper prints the card and the band in one order.
Hierarchy & layout recipe
Card 85 x 55 mm, word 20 mm with 8 mm fold clearance, details 7/9 pt, 5 mm margins. Wrap band 200 x 40 mm, word 16 mm, 6 mm margins. Door strip 60 x 700 mm, word 100 mm, 10 mm margins.
Pre-production check
On an 85 x 55 mm card the white outline disappears into the margin and the ribbon reads as a scribble. Keep the card word at 24 mm with 5 mm of clear paper around it, and check one card before the order.
A ribbon display reads as a drawn masthead rather than a typeset one, which is what a design issue wants on the cover. The outline keeps the fold legible over a tint at 80 pt, and the loops fill the measure without tracking.
Hierarchy & layout recipe
Cover 210 x 297 mm, title 80 pt with 12 mm fold clearance, cover lines 10/14 pt, 18 mm margins. Feature opener 60 pt. Folio mark 12 mm, 8 mm from the trim.
Pre-production check
At 12 mm on the folio mark the fold closes into a dot and the mark reads as a smudge. Use a single element on the folio and keep the face for the cover, then proof one cover at 1:1.
A ribbon monoline gives a winter dinner an elegant drawn title without a script. The fold holds at 26 pt on a menu header, and one deep ink on cream prints the invitation, the menu and the cards in one order.
Hierarchy & layout recipe
Invitation 130 x 180 mm, names 26 pt with 10 mm fold clearance, details 9/13 pt, 15 mm margins. Menu 120 x 210 mm, header 20 pt, courses 9/12 pt. Table card 90 x 50 mm, name 12 pt, 4 mm margins.
Pre-production check
At 12 pt on a table card the outline merges with the fold and the name reads as a tangle. Raise table cards to 18 pt or use the plain cut, and proof one card before the set.
