Visual anatomy & craft review
Christmas Luster is an ornamental display serif in which the Roman capitals unfurl interlocking spiral curls on the C, H, R and S, giving a word a ribbon-like silhouette while keeping the interior letterforms classical. The curls sit inside and outside the stem, so the setting needs space around each capital, and the contrast is high enough that the hairlines want 20 mm before they hold. Small caps or lowercase would be a natural support but are not implied. It is a card, tin and cover face, best in one metallic or deep crimson ink on cream.

Interlocking curls read as a printed ribbon without an illustration, which is what an heirloom tin needs. High contrast separates a short family name from a cream ground at 20 mm.
Hierarchy & layout recipe
Tin 200 x 150 x 80 mm, name 40 mm on the lid with 10 mm curl allowance each side, 30 mm margins. Print 300 x 400 mm, word 90 mm, 40 mm margins. Card 120 x 170 mm, greeting 24 mm, message 8/12 pt.
Pre-production check
Tins are printed on metal sheet and then formed, and a curl close to a bend deforms in the press. Keep 25 mm clear of every fold on the blank, and check one formed tin before the run.
Ribbon curls read as a heritage brand mark rather than a seasonal sticker, so the packaging can sell outside December. Deep ink on cream prints convincingly with one spot colour.
Hierarchy & layout recipe
Box 180 x 120 x 40 mm, word 26 mm on the lid, 20 mm margins. Tin 75 x 100 mm, name 14 mm, brewing 5 pt. Cover 152 x 229 mm, title 40 pt, 18 mm margins.
Pre-production check
Chocolate boxes are wrapped in a printed sleeve and the sleeve's fold runs across the lid face on small formats. Check the die line against the artwork, and move the curls 15 mm away from any crease.
Ornamental capitals give a winter programme a carol-sheet formality, and the classical interior keeps a running order readable. One ink suits a cheap programme run.
Hierarchy & layout recipe
Programme A5, title 26 pt, running order 9/13 pt, 15 mm margins. Label 55 x 45 mm, word 8 mm, 3 mm top arc. Menu 120 x 210 mm, heading 18 mm, courses 9/13 pt.
Pre-production check
Programmes are folded from A4 and stapled, and a curl crossing the fold cracks. Keep the title 15 mm above the fold, score before folding, and check one stapled copy for ink loss along the spine.
