Visual anatomy & craft review
Christmas Family is a bold holiday display slab serif with ribbon swashes: heavy unbracketed slabs, a small notch where the stem meets the slab, and swashes that curl off the caps like a folded ribbon with a visible fold line. The swashes widen a word and the notch is the finest element. It needs roughly 30 mm for the ribbon fold and the notch to read, and it is best in one deep ink plus a spot red on cream, or a fine gold on a dark ground where the ribbon prints as a bright line.

A ribbon-swashed slab reads as a printed greeting rather than a modern card. The ribbon holds at 26 mm, and two inks print the card, the tags and the banner in one order.
Hierarchy & layout recipe
Card 105 x 148 mm, greeting 26 mm with 10 mm swash clearance, message 8/11 pt, 12 mm margins. Tag 50 x 90 mm, word 12 mm with a 5 mm hole and 8 mm clear. Banner 1200 x 400 mm, word 140 mm, 25 mm safe edge.
Pre-production check
A 50 x 90 mm tag at 12 mm closes the ribbon fold into a blob and the greeting reads as a knot. Raise the tag word to 16 mm, and print one tag on the actual stock before the batch.
A ribbon-swashed slab reads as a heritage market board rather than a printed menu. The ribbon holds at 60 mm on a board, and two inks print the board and the price cards in one pass.
Hierarchy & layout recipe
Board 600 x 900 mm, word 100 mm with 12 mm swash clearance, items 26 mm, 30 mm margins. Price card 105 x 75 mm, item 18 mm, price 24 mm. Bag print 200 x 250 mm, word 50 mm, 15 mm margins.
Pre-production check
A 105 x 75 mm price card at 18 mm fills the notch and the item reads as a bar in low winter light. Raise the item to 24 mm, and check one card under the market lamp.
A holiday slab reads as a printed country bill rather than a modern flyer, which is what an autumn fair wants on a fence. The slabs hold at 100 mm on a poster, and two inks print the poster and the prize labels in one order.
Hierarchy & layout recipe
Poster A2, word 100 mm with 12 mm swash clearance, details 34 mm, 20 mm margins. Tent sign 600 x 400 mm, word 90 mm, 25 mm margins. Prize label 90 x 60 mm, word 16 mm, 5 mm margins.
Pre-production check
A 90 x 60 mm prize label at 16 mm fills the notch and the word reads as a stain. Raise the label word to 22 mm, and print one label before the batch.
