Visual anatomy & craft review
Christmas Continues is an ornamental holiday display serif with candle-flame details: high-contrast stems, split bracketed serifs, a candle flame replacing the i dot and spiral curls that turn off the descenders. The flame and the spirals are the finest elements and both close first when the face shrinks. It needs roughly 32 mm for the flame and the spiral to read, and it is best in one deep ink on cream, or a fine gold on a dark ground where the spiral prints as a bright line.

An ornamental flame serif reads as an illuminated greeting rather than a printed card. The flame holds at 26 mm, and one deep ink prints the card, the tags and the banner in one order.
Hierarchy & layout recipe
Card 105 x 148 mm, greeting 26 mm with 10 mm curl clearance, message 8/11 pt, 12 mm margins. Tag 50 x 90 mm, word 12 mm with a 5 mm hole and 8 mm clear. Banner 1200 x 400 mm, word 140 mm, 25 mm safe edge.
Pre-production check
A 50 x 90 mm tag at 12 mm closes the flame into a dot and the greeting reads as a typo. Raise the tag word to 16 mm, and print one tag on the actual stock before the batch.
An ornamental serif reads as a printed heritage sign rather than a modern board, which is what a winter market wants overhead. The spirals hold at 60 mm on a board, and one ink prints the board and the price cards in one pass.
Hierarchy & layout recipe
Board 600 x 900 mm, word 100 mm with 12 mm curl clearance, items 26 mm, 30 mm margins. Price card 105 x 75 mm, item 18 mm, price 24 mm. Bag print 200 x 250 mm, word 50 mm, 15 mm margins.
Pre-production check
A 105 x 75 mm price card at 18 mm fills the spiral and the item reads as a bar in low winter light. Raise the item to 24 mm, and check one card under the market lamp.
An ornamental flame serif turns a December issue into an illuminated cover. The flames hold at 72 pt on a coated cover, and one metallic keeps the spirals crisp against a deep ground.
Hierarchy & layout recipe
Cover 210 x 297 mm, title 72 pt with 12 mm curl clearance, cover lines 10/14 pt over two columns of 82 mm, 18 mm margins and a 12 mm head. Opener 56 pt. Pull quote 40 pt.
Pre-production check
At 40 pt on the pull quote the spiral fills into a blob and the quote reads as a stain. Keep the face at 52 pt and above, and proof one spread at 1:1.
