Visual anatomy & craft review
Buggiath is a duo: a thick rounded monoline cord script with ligatures and alternates, plus a bold condensed sans that carries detail. The script reads as lettering piped from a single cord rather than a shaded pen, so its weight is even and it cuts and plots predictably, while the condensed sans supplies names, dates and prices without competing. The pair shares a warm, informal voice, and the script needs roughly 15 mm before the cord thickness reads as deliberate; it is a market, packaging and stationery duo.

Concrete hierarchy, scale and production guidance tailored to Buggiath’s stroke geometry.
A cord script beside a condensed sans gives a stall a hierarchy in two faces: the shop name in cord, the prices in sans. The even weight prints cleanly on a cheap card and reads at market distance.
Hierarchy & layout recipe
Sign 900 x 600 mm, name 160 mm, prices 40 mm in the sans, 60 mm margins. Wrap label 90 x 60 mm, name 16 mm, variety 7 pt. Price card 100 x 70 mm, item 12 mm, price 14 mm on a 20 mm column.
Pre-production check
An outdoor stall sign is read in glancing light and a rounded cord at 160 mm holds while a 40 mm price does not. Keep prices in the bold sans at 40 mm or above, and check one sign from three metres.
A cord script reads as hand-piped lettering, which suits a relaxed garden wedding, and the condensed sans keeps times and addresses unambiguous. Two faces cover the whole suite.
Hierarchy & layout recipe
Invitation 120 x 180 mm, names 24 mm, details 9/13 pt in the sans, 15 mm margins. Menu 120 x 210 mm, header 16 mm, dishes 9/13 pt. Tag 45 x 80 mm, names 8 mm, hole 5 mm clear.
Pre-production check
A suite that mixes two faces fails when practical lines drift into the script. Keep addresses, times and RSVP in the sans only, and proof the whole suite at once rather than card by card.
Cord lettering reads as a hand-lettered market banner, which suits a summer produce stall, and the bold sans carries a list of goods at reading size. Even strokes survive a screen print on a cotton bag.
Hierarchy & layout recipe
Banner 1500 x 400 mm, name 260 mm, 100 mm margins. Bag panel 260 x 260 mm, name 50 mm, 30 mm to the seam. Flyer A5, name 100 mm, list 9/12 pt, 12 mm margins.
Pre-production check
Cotton totes are screen printed and a rounded cord edge under 1 mm bleeds into the weave. Print at 50 mm or above, add a 3 percent ink reduction, and check one washed bag before the run.
