Rounded bubble blocks with curled internal counters and a bouncy baseline

Bubblegum Pop

Bubblegum Pop is a chunky bubble display in which the blocks stay rounded, the counters curl into hooked openings and the baseline bounces, so a word reads as inflated lettering rather than as a headline.

Visual anatomy & craft review

Letterform structure
of Bubblegum Pop.

The B curls the openings of both bowls, the P hooks its counter, the G turns a spiral eye and the O opens a broad oval, all at a maximal weight with fully rounded ends and letters that sit at slightly different heights. The hooked counters are the character: the white space inside each letter is drawn as a curl rather than a circle, which is why the sample sets two colour rows with offset pale edges. Because the counters are small, the face wants 32 pt before the curls survive print, and it cuts cleanly from three quarters of an inch of cap height. The bubble props, the offset shadows and the pale ground are presentation; the rounded lettering is the face.

Practical applications

Project & layout
blueprints.

Concrete hierarchy, scale and production guidance tailored to Bubblegum Pop’s stroke geometry.

Birthday

Invitation card for a fifth birthday

The bouncy bubbles suit a children's invitation, and the chunky strokes stay legible at 40 pt across a small printed card in two colours.

Hierarchy & layout recipe

Print an A6 card: set the name at 40 pt, keep 12 mm of clear ground beneath for the date, and keep the curled counters uncovered so they still read as curls.

Pre-production check

A curled counter printed over a pattern loses its shape; check the card and keep the face on a plain ground.

Birthday

Banner for a party wall

The rounded blocks read across a room, and the bouncing baseline gives a plain banner movement at 80 mm on printed paper.

Hierarchy & layout recipe

Print an A3 banner: set the greeting at 80 mm on one row, keep 24 mm of border so the round ends stay inside the sheet, and set the age in a 20 pt rounded sans beneath.

Pre-production check

Letters printed to the sheet edge lose their outer curve; check the banner and keep 20 mm of ground all round.

Brand & packaging

Sticker for a sweet shop

The chunky bubbles suit a die-cut sticker, and the solid shapes stay whole at 30 mm on a shaped die where thin lettering would lose its edges.

Hierarchy & layout recipe

Print a shaped sticker: set the word at 30 mm, keep 4 mm of clear vinyl around the outermost curve, and print in two flat inks so the offset edge stays sharp.

Pre-production check

A die cut close to a round end leaves a thin sliver; check the sheet and keep 4 mm of clearance from every curve.
