Visual anatomy & craft review
Bakery is a disconnected chunky marker capital set with softly bulging stems, unequal shoulders and a hand-inked bounce that sits on a common baseline but never quite on a common optical line. Because it is upright and unjoined it can be read at arm's length on a shop sign, and because each letter carries a slight rotation, an all-caps line looks written rather than typed. The strokes are thick enough to hold at 10 mm and short enough to set a two-word heading without the counters closing. It suits packaging that wants warmth without a cursive's formality.

Chunky marker capitals can be read by an adult across a party room while still looking like a child's own writing, which is the tone a play-kitchen party needs. The unjoined letters keep each shape whole, so a small painted sign stays readable instead of collapsing into script at 10 mm.
Hierarchy & layout recipe
Wooden sign 300 x 150 mm, routed 3 mm deep, lettering 22 mm cap-height, 20 mm clear margin and 6 mm minimum wall between adjacent letters to survive routing. Banner 900 x 300 mm on 240 gsm uncoated, title 60 pt, subtitle 18 pt. Keep the banner wording to five words maximum.
Pre-production check
On routed wood the counters of 'a', 'e' and 'B' can break away if the inner island is under 5 mm. Ask the cutter for a proof on scrap pine before committing the panel, and widen tracking by 20 units if any island measures close.
The ink-marker texture reads as hand-lettered chalkboard rather than corporate packaging, which is the register small-batch pet bakeries actually use. Unequal letter widths mean a very short brand name still looks like a considered wordmark rather than a stretched placeholder.
Hierarchy & layout recipe
Treat bag 120 x 200 x 60 mm gusset, brand 26 mm cap-height on the front panel, ingredients panel 8/11 pt neutral sans. Sticker 60 mm circle, name 14 mm, 4 mm keyline, 6 mm inner margin. Mug wrap 210 x 85 mm print area, name 30 mm, logo kept 12 mm below the rim to avoid the handle shadow.
Pre-production check
Grease is the failure mode on a treat bag: kraft with no grease barrier wicks oil into the ink and the marker texture turns muddy within a day. Specify a 40 gsm greaseproof liner or test a filled bag for 48 hours before approving.
A short handwritten capital line looks like something written on a tag at the kitchen table, which is the whole point of a gift tied to a box of biscuits. The face carries a two-or-three-word message on a 50 mm tag without the awkward break a longer script would need.
Hierarchy & layout recipe
Tag 50 x 90 mm, 3 mm hole 7 mm from the top edge, message 8 mm cap-height on one line, sender line 3.5 mm in a plain text face. Print on 300 gsm soft-white card, no bleed, trim marks only. Keep 5 mm clear of the hole punch.
Pre-production check
Test a punched tag first. On 300 gsm card the hole needs 8 mm of clear card around it or the fibres crack when the ribbon is pulled, and the tag tears within a week of hanging on a jar.
