Visual anatomy & craft review
Bakery is a thick modern brush script in which the terminals curl into tight spirals: a heavy loaded stroke, connected letters, a soft slant and a spiral that finishes the last letter rather than a plain tail. The spiral is the finest element and the weight closes the loops early, so both need size. It needs roughly 26 mm for the spiral and the loaded stroke to read, and it is best in one deep ink on cream and kraft, or a single dark red on buff stock where the spiral stays open.

Concrete hierarchy, scale and production guidance tailored to Bakery’s stroke geometry.
A spiral-terminal brush script reads as hand-lettered on a bag rather than printed on a label, which is what a bakery wants on its packaging. The spiral holds at 26 mm, and one ink prints the bag and the box in one order.
Hierarchy & layout recipe
Bag stamp 90 x 50 mm, word 24 mm with 6 mm spiral clearance, 6 mm margins. Box print 250 x 250 mm, word 50 mm, 20 mm margins. Card 85 x 55 mm, word 14 mm, 5 mm margins.
Pre-production check
On unbleached kraft the loaded stroke wicks into the fibres and the 14 mm card word softens into a blur. Stamp on coated kraft or raise the card word to 20 mm, and check one bag on the production stock.
A brush script gives a cake order card the look of a written label rather than a printed brand. The spiral holds at 30 mm on a card, and one ink prints the card, the topper and the box label in one pass.
Hierarchy & layout recipe
Card A6, script 30 mm with 8 mm spiral clearance, details 8/11 pt, 12 mm margins. Topper 120 x 100 mm, script 40 mm with a 6 mm stick slot and 12 mm clear. Box label 120 x 60 mm, script 18 mm, 5 mm margins.
Pre-production check
A 120 mm topper thins the spiral under 1 mm and it snaps on the stick. Cut with a 2 mm outline offset or print on 3 mm board, and test one before the set.
A brush script reads as a written note rather than a printed acknowledgement, which is what a bakery wants in the bag. The loaded stroke holds at 22 mm, and one ink prints the card, the label and the tag in one order.
Hierarchy & layout recipe
Card A6, script 22 mm with 8 mm spiral clearance, note 8/11 pt, 12 mm margins. Jar label 70 x 45 mm, script 12 mm, 4 mm die margin. Market tag 50 x 90 mm, script 12 mm with a 5 mm hole and 8 mm clear.
Pre-production check
A 70 x 45 mm jar label at 12 mm closes the spiral into a bead and the word reads as a smudge on wet-strength paper. Raise the label word to 16 mm, and check one labelled jar before the batch.
