Heavy varsity slabs with soft corners and a wide rectangular top line
Athlete Vintage is a heavy varsity slab in which the caps keep a soft corner radius, the slab tops run wide and flat, and the deep triangular openings in the V and A stay open, so a team name reads as stitched athletic lettering.

Sturdy stroke walls and open counters weed cleanly on adhesive vinyl, HTV apparel film, and cut cardstock.
Visual anatomy & craft review
The V drops two heavy diagonals into a narrow vertex, the A keeps a low crossbar under a broad shoulder, the S turns through thick squared curves and the T spreads a rectangular top that overhangs both stems, all at a display weight with rounded corners and an even fill. The clean fill is the character: the ageing in the sample comes from the cream field and the ribbons, not from the letters, which is why the face stays crisp when it is enlarged. Because the slabs are wide, a long word fills a narrow space, so the face suits two short rows and holds from three quarters of an inch of cap height in vinyl. The laurel, the stripes and the pale edge are presentation.

Concrete hierarchy, scale and production guidance tailored to Athlete Vintage’s stroke geometry.
The soft-cornered slabs read as sewn athletic lettering, and the even fill keeps a two-word team name solid at 80 mm across a shirt front.
Hierarchy & layout recipe
Print a 320 mm chest print: set the team name at 80 mm, keep the slab tops at 8 mm of ink so the corners stay soft, and leave 45 mm of clear fabric below for the player number.
Pre-production check
A soft corner radius under 2 mm fills in on a screen print; check the film at full size and open the radius rather than shrinking the word.
The varsity weight carries a plain thank-you to parents, and the wide slabs stay legible at 110 mm on a printed vinyl banner in one ink.
Hierarchy & layout recipe
Print a two-metre banner: set the line at 110 mm on a single row, keep 45 mm of border so the wide slabs are not lost to the hem, and set the season in a 30 mm caps beneath.
Pre-production check
A slab that runs to the hem edge gets folded away; check the finished banner and keep every serif 40 mm inside the eyelets.
The clean athletic blocks translate into felt, and the even weight stays solid at 50 mm on a sew-on patch with a merrowed edge.
Hierarchy & layout recipe
Cut a 75 mm patch: set the club name at 50 mm, keep every corner as a rounded cut line, and leave 6 mm of border so the merrow stitch does not eat the outline.
Pre-production check
A merrowed edge takes about 3 mm of the border; check the artwork and keep every letter 6 mm inside the cut line.
