Collegiate slab with inline border
Varsity Legacy is a collegiate slab in black with a thin light inline border on a pale wood ground: wide caps with heavy slab serifs, a low waist and closed counters, edged by a light contour that follows every stroke, with tracked lines above and below.

Sturdy stroke walls and open counters weed cleanly on adhesive vinyl, HTV apparel film, and cut cardstock.
Visual anatomy & craft review
The two words are stacked and the drawing is a college block: the serifs are as heavy as the stems, the waist is low and the counters are closed, which keeps the face readable from a stand. The light inline border is drawn as a contour inside the edge, so the letters read as a two-layer applique, and that construction is what lets the black hold on a light ground without looking flat. Because the contour is thin, it disappears at small sizes, and the plate sets the words large enough that it survives. The wood behind the type is a texture test rather than a theme, and the tracked lines above and below are set in a plain bold face. The palette is black on pale wood, which is a fair check for a face used on a garment or a gym wall.

Concrete hierarchy, scale and production guidance tailored to Varsity Legacy’s stroke geometry.
A collegiate slab with a contour reads as stitched applique, and the heavy construction holds at twenty metres on a fence banner.
Hierarchy & layout recipe
Print 1,600 by 600 mm: the name at 190 mm cap height, the year in a 40 mm bold, and a 6 mm contour. Keep 35 mm margins and print two colours on a light vinyl.
Pre-production check
Check the banner at twenty metres, where a 6 mm contour can vanish; keep it above 12 mm. Confirm the 40 mm year reads at eight metres and that the eyelets clear the block.
A collegiate mark reads as a badge, and the contour converts cleanly to a second embroidery colour without redrawing the letters.
Hierarchy & layout recipe
Set the mark at 70 mm on a pennant, 28 mm on a patch and 13 mm on a card, keeping the contour only above 30 mm. Hold clear space equal to half the cap height on every side.
Pre-production check
Check the 13 mm card mark, where a thin contour closes; drop it at that size. Confirm the 28 mm patch reads in stitch and that the pennant reads at six metres.
A collegiate face prints as two passes and looks like official kit, which is what a class shirt needs rather than a novelty display.
Hierarchy & layout recipe
Print a 260 mm chest graphic: the class year at 70 mm cap height, the name at 32 mm, and two inks with a 3 mm contour. Keep the narrowest counter at 4 mm and place the graphic 80 mm below the collar.
Pre-production check
Check the screen at actual mesh, where a 3 mm contour can fill; thicken it. Wash-test one shirt and confirm the contour stays even after five cycles.
