Visual anatomy & craft review
Amsterdam Signature is a tall monoline signature script: an even hairline stroke with long ascenders, letters joined low and fast, a slight forward slant and a single release stroke that carries the eye off the end of the word. It reads as a signed name rather than a set line, so it belongs on a card, a thank-you slip or a decal. The hairline is the finest element and it breaks first in print, on textured stock and in vinyl. It needs roughly 28 mm for the hairline and the ascender to read, and it is best one dark ink on a smooth coated stock.

A tall monoline signature reads as a hand-signed studio mark rather than a corporate logo. The ascenders hold at 28 mm on a card, and one ink prints the card and the decal in one order.
Hierarchy & layout recipe
Card 85 x 55 mm, signature 28 mm with 10 mm ascender clearance, details 7/9 pt, 8 mm margins. Decal 150 x 100 mm, signature 46 mm, 10 mm margins. Sticker 60 mm round, initial 12 mm, 3 mm die margin.
Pre-production check
On a 60 mm sticker the hairline silts and the mark reads as a grey trace. Use a plain initial there, and print one sheet before the run.
A hairline signature gives a wedding a hand-signed name on printed stationery without a full calligraphy script. The ascenders hold at 30 pt on an invitation, and one ink prints the suite in one pass.
Hierarchy & layout recipe
Invitation 130 x 180 mm, names 30 pt with 12 mm ascender clearance, details 9/13 pt, 18 mm margins. Place card 90 x 50 mm, name 16 pt, 4 mm margins. Favour tag 50 x 90 mm, name 16 mm, 3 mm hole clearance and 4 mm to the trim.
Pre-production check
At 16 mm on a favour tag the hairline drops out and the name reads as a faint trace. Raise the tag to 24 mm, and punch one tag before the batch.
A signature script says thank you the way a hand-written note does, which separates a small business from a printed invoice. The hairline holds at 28 mm, and one ink prints the card and the band in one pass.
Hierarchy & layout recipe
Card A6, signature 28 pt with 10 mm ascender clearance, note 8/11 pt, 14 mm margins. Gift tag 50 x 90 mm, signature 16 mm, 3 mm hole clearance. Sleeve band 160 x 40 mm, signature 18 mm, 6 mm margins.
Pre-production check
On a 160 x 40 mm band the signature crosses the fold and splits when wrapped. Keep the word 8 mm clear of the crease, and wrap one band before the order.
