Layered varsity jersey capitals with fill, keyline and offset shadow
ABC Sport is a layered varsity capital alphabet in which each letter carries a fill, a narrow keyline and an offset shadow, so a name reads as the appliqué on a college jersey.

Cut solid base, outline, and shadow layers in separate vinyl colors and align on registration marks.
Visual anatomy & craft review
The A pinches a pointed apex with a flat bar, the B closes two slab bowls, the C cuts an octagonal crescent, the S holds a stepped spine and the P turns a square bowl, all at a heavy slab weight with clipped corners and a second outline offset down and right. The three layers are the character: the sample builds each word from fill, keyline and shadow so one name carries a team colour without any artwork. Because the layers are separate, each one has to be a clean vector, and the shadow must be offset consistently or the word looks broken. The navy fabric, the stars, the rules and the letter-spaced lines are presentation; the layered jersey words are the face.

Concrete hierarchy, scale and production guidance tailored to Abc Sport’s stroke geometry.
The layered build gives a shirt a three-colour name from one file, and the octagonal slabs read across a field at 80 mm.
Hierarchy & layout recipe
Print a 300 mm chest print: set the name at 80 mm, keep the keyline at 3 mm and the shadow offset at 2 mm down and right, and print the three layers in order with a 0.4 mm trap.
Pre-production check
A shadow offset that changes letter to letter reads as a mistake; check the film and confirm one offset value across the whole word.
The layered word fills a whole banner without extra graphics, and the clipped corners stay sharp at 120 mm on outdoor vinyl.
Hierarchy & layout recipe
Print a 1500 by 400 mm banner: set the headline at 120 mm, keep 40 mm of border, and set the scoreboard line in a 25 mm slab beneath with the same shadow offset.
Pre-production check
Three layers at banner size multiply registration error; check a proof and keep the keyline as the strongest element so drift stays invisible.
The layered shapes translate into embroidery, and the clipped corners suit a woven club border at 60 mm on a felt patch.
Hierarchy & layout recipe
Digitise a 70 mm patch: set the name at 60 mm, keep every shadow area at 2 mm minimum so the needle can fill it, and run the keyline as a satin stitch around the fill.
Pre-production check
A 1 mm shadow cannot be satin stitched and pulls the fabric; check the digitised preview and widen the offset or drop the layer entirely.
