Visual anatomy & craft review
Vintage King is a nineteen-fifties to seventies sign-painter script shipped in three cuts: a regular brush script, an extrude and an outline, all on one skeleton with a wet stroke, a low slant and long sweeping caps. The layers must keep fixed spacing, and the outline closes first. It needs roughly 28 mm for the extrude edge and the sweep to read, and it is best in two warm inks on cream, or one ink plus a knocked-out outline on coloured card.

Concrete hierarchy, scale and production guidance tailored to Vintage King’s stroke geometry.
A sign-painter script reads as hand-lettered glass rather than a modern logo, which is what a barbershop wants on its window. The sweep holds at 50 mm on a decal, and two warm inks print the decal and the card from one file.
Hierarchy & layout recipe
Window decal 600 x 300 mm, word 90 mm with 12 mm sweep clearance, 25 mm margins. Card 85 x 55 mm, word 16 mm, 5 mm margins. Sign 900 x 400 mm, word 120 mm, 25 mm margins.
Pre-production check
On an 85 x 55 mm card the wet stroke merges with the extrude and the name reads as a double image. Keep the card word at 22 mm or use the regular cut, and check one card before the run.
A sign-painter script gives a small shop a thank-you that reads as painted rather than printed. The sweep holds at 26 mm on a card, and two inks print the card, the tag and the bag in one order.
Hierarchy & layout recipe
Card A6, greeting 26 mm with 8 mm sweep clearance, note 8/11 pt, 12 mm margins. Shop tag 50 x 90 mm, word 12 mm with a 4 mm hole and 8 mm clear. Bag print 200 x 250 mm, word 50 mm, 15 mm margins.
Pre-production check
A 50 x 90 mm tag at 12 mm closes the sweep and the word reads as a smudge. Raise the tag word to 18 mm, and print one tag on the actual board before the batch.
A vintage sign-painter script reads as a printed fair bill rather than a modern flyer, which is what a summer fair wants on a fence. The wet stroke holds at 120 mm on a poster, and two warm inks print the poster and the tote from the same artwork.
Hierarchy & layout recipe
Poster A2, word 120 mm with 15 mm sweep clearance, details 36 mm, 20 mm margins. Stall sign 600 x 400 mm, word 90 mm, 25 mm margins. Tote print 300 x 300 mm, word 70 mm, 25 mm margins.
Pre-production check
Screen printed on a tote at 70 mm the extrude bridges into the letter and the depth disappears after one wash. Use the regular cut on fabric, and wash one sample before the order.
