Visual anatomy & craft review
The Quironax is a swashed medieval and romantasy display serif in a regular and a slant: heavy bracketed stems with worn edges, small spike serifs on the diagonals, swash capitals that curl over the following letter and a slight forward lean in the slant cut. The spikes and the swashes are the finest elements and both close first. It needs roughly 32 mm for the spike and the swash to read, and it is best in one fine metallic on a dark ground, or a dense ink on parchment-toned stock.

A swashed medieval serif reads as a printed genre cover rather than a styled headline, which is what a romantasy release wants at the top. The swashes hold at 72 pt on a coated cover, and one metallic keeps the spikes crisp.
Hierarchy & layout recipe
Cover 130 x 198 mm, title 72 pt with 12 mm swash clearance, author 20 pt, 15 mm margins and a 10 mm trim. Opener 56 pt with 10 mm of clear ground. Part title 40 pt with 10 mm above and 8 mm below.
Pre-production check
At 40 pt on the part title the swash closes into the next letter and the title reads as a knot. Keep the face at 52 pt and above, and proof one page at 1:1.
A medieval serif gives a studio a mark that reads as a title screen rather than a corporate logo. The swashes hold at 30 mm on a box, and one metallic prints the box and the cards in one order.
Hierarchy & layout recipe
Box print 200 x 200 mm, word 50 mm with 10 mm swash clearance, 20 mm margins. Card 85 x 55 mm, word 16 mm, 5 mm margins. Banner 1000 x 500 mm, word 150 mm, 30 mm safe edge.
Pre-production check
On an 85 x 55 mm card the swash collapses into a blunt serif and the name reads as a generic slab. Keep the card word at 24 mm, and check one card before the run.
A swashed medieval serif suits a dark-fantasy night better than a cartoon monster face. The spikes hold at 120 mm on a poster, and one metallic prints the poster and the plates in one order.
Hierarchy & layout recipe
Poster A2, word 120 mm with 14 mm swash clearance, details 40 mm, 20 mm margins. Ticket 100 x 50 mm, word 14 mm, 4 mm perforation. Door plate 200 x 300 mm, word 60 mm, 20 mm margins.
Pre-production check
A 100 x 50 mm ticket at 14 mm turns the spike into a blob and the word reads as a barbed bar. Raise the ticket to 20 mm, and print one ticket before the batch.
