Swashed retro connected script with a wide underline tail
Starlake is a swashed retro connected script in which the first letter rises into a broad swash, the strokes stay heavy and the word finishes on a wide tail that acts as an underline.

Visual anatomy & craft review
The capital S opens as a wide looped swash that rises above the cap line before the word settles into thick connected letters: the t is crossed low, the a and the r close round bowls, the l rises into a short loop and the k splays from a single stem. The exit is the defining gesture: a broad tapering tail leaves the last letter and sweeps beneath the word, giving a printed-sign finish that would otherwise need a rule. Weight is heavy and even with rounded terminals, and the fit is tight enough that a single word holds a wide panel at 60 pt without tracking. The navy ground, the cream ink, the small cap-height rules and the two tracked captions are presentation; the script is the word.

The retro swash gives a feature its period voice, and the wide tail can stand in for the rule beneath a headline in one piece of type at 56 pt.
Hierarchy & layout recipe
Set the header at 56 pt across the opening spread, keep the body in a 10 pt serif at 13 pt leading, and hold 18 mm below the tail so the first column starts clean.
Pre-production check
A heavy swash on newsprint fills its inner curve; check the press sheet and open the curve before the run rather than reducing the size.
The swash supplies the underline a painted fascia usually needs, so one word fills the panel and no separate rule has to be added at 20 cm.
Hierarchy & layout recipe
Set the name at 20 cm on the fascia, keep the opening hours in a condensed sans at 4 cm, and hold 12 cm of clearance so the wide tail finishes on the panel.
Pre-production check
A tail that runs past the panel edge reads as a mistake; check the layout at full size and shorten the tail rather than the word.
The swashed retro script suits a period venue, and the underline tail gives a welcome board a finished base without a frame or a rule.
Hierarchy & layout recipe
Set the greeting at 12 cm on a 700 by 500 mm board, set both names at 7 cm beneath it, and leave 12 cm of margin so the tail stays inside the board edge.
Pre-production check
Painted tails taper unevenly at the end of a long stroke; mask the tip with tape and check the taper before the board is sealed.
