Rounded blackletter display
Ragnar Gothic is a rounded blackletter in cream over a monochrome medieval cityscape: mixed case with broad round bowls, a split capital G, curled spurs and softened corners, set in two lines between a small line above and a tracked caption beneath, with dated notes at the shoulders.

Visual anatomy & craft review
The two words are stacked across the skyline and the drawing is a blackletter softened at the corners: the bowls are broad and round, the G is split, and the spurs curl without the sharp angles of a true gothic, which makes the face readable at a distance. That construction sets a moderate size floor, because the curls close when the letters shrink, and the plate sets the words large enough that each spur reads. The monochrome city behind it is staging that names the period, and the notes at the shoulders and the caption beneath are plain caps. Because the letters are decorative and rounded, the face suits a festival poster, a bar sign and a book cover, and it can be set in mixed case, which the plate demonstrates with two capital initials and lowercase following.

A rounded blackletter sets a period festival without the density of a true gothic, so a long name stays readable. A long festival name still fits in two lines.
Hierarchy & layout recipe
A2 poster: the festival at 90 mm cap height, the dates in a 22 mm sans, and the gate at 11 mm. Keep 30 mm margins and print two colours on a light stock.
Pre-production check
Check the A2 at five metres, where a curl can vanish; keep it above 1.5 mm. Confirm the 11 mm gate reads at two metres and that the name fits the width.
A blackletter gives a brewpub a mark with a medieval register, and the rounded corners keep it from looking severe on a small sign.
Hierarchy & layout recipe
Paint a 900 by 320 mm board: the pub at 100 mm cap height, the hours in a 20 mm serif, and a 5 mm border. Keep 24 mm margins and paint two colours on a primed board.
Pre-production check
Check the board at five metres, where a spur can look like a drip; keep the curls deliberate. Confirm the 20 mm hours read at two metres and that the border holds outdoors.
A rounded gothic frames a fantasy title without the dense black of a classic blackletter, which keeps a long title legible.
Hierarchy & layout recipe
Set the title at 80 mm cap height across 185 mm, the author in a 12 pt serif, and the imprint at 8 pt. Print two colours on a textured stock and keep the curls clear of the author line.
Pre-production check
Check the title at 80 mm, where a curl can clot on a rough sheet; specify a smooth stock. Confirm the 8 pt imprint survives lamination and that the title clears the trim.
