Sturdy stroke walls and open counters weed cleanly on adhesive vinyl, HTV apparel film, and cut cardstock.
Visual anatomy & craft review
Obligart Bold is a heavy angular Chicano and street-art block blackletter: very dense squared strokes with hard-cut corners, letterforms that lean and overlap, small pointed spurs where the strokes meet and a solid fill that reads as sprayed on a wall. The angular cuts close first when the face is reduced, and the overlap grows the word wide. It needs roughly 34 mm for the spur and the angular cut to read, and it is best in one white or metallic on a dark ground, or a flat two-colour print on coated stock.

An angular block blackletter reads as sprayed lettering rather than a corporate logo, which is what a street-front barber wants in its window. The cuts hold at 60 mm on a decal, and one ink covers the decal and the cards in one order.
Hierarchy & layout recipe
Window decal 600 x 400 mm, word 90 mm with 12 mm cut clearance, 25 mm margins. Card 85 x 55 mm, word 20 mm, 5 mm margins. Sign 900 x 400 mm, word 120 mm, 25 mm margins.
Pre-production check
A 600 x 400 mm decal at 90 mm traps air in the angular cuts and the vinyl lifts at every point. Use a wet-apply method, and apply one decal before the run.
An angular blackletter turns a street-culture page into its own wall. The spurs hold at 48 pt on a coated page, and one ink keeps the solid fill clean against a photographic ground.
Hierarchy & layout recipe
Header 48 pt with 10 mm spur clearance, body 9/13 pt over two columns of 82 mm, 18 mm margins and a 12 mm head. Opener 40 pt with 10 mm of clear ground beside the image. Pull quote 32 pt with 8 mm above and 8 mm below.
Pre-production check
At 32 pt on the pull quote the angular cuts fill and the quote reads as a solid block. Keep the face at 44 pt and above, and proof one spread at 1:1.
A heavy angular blackletter suits a dark-street night better than a cartoon monster face. The spurs hold at 120 mm on a poster, and one white ink prints the poster and the tickets from a dark ground.
Hierarchy & layout recipe
Poster A2, word 120 mm with 14 mm spur clearance, details 40 mm, 20 mm margins. Ticket 100 x 50 mm, word 12 mm, 4 mm perforation. Door sign 250 x 350 mm, word 60 mm, 20 mm margins.
Pre-production check
A 100 x 50 mm ticket at 12 mm merges the spurs into the fill and the word reads as a black bar. Raise the ticket to 18 mm, and print one ticket before the batch.
