Duo pairing tall hand-lettered caps with an outlined script
Happy Birthday is a two-cut family in which tall hand-lettered capitals stand in a bouncing row and an outlined script writes the second word beneath, so a greeting reads as a decorated card from a stationery shop.

Visual anatomy & craft review
The caps build an H with two narrow stems, an A with a high bar, two stacked P bowls and a Y with two thin arms, all at a light hand-lettered weight with a visible bounce; the script cut draws a monoline outline with a hooked b and a wide y tail. The pairing is the character: the caps are solid and tall and the script is drawn as a double line, which is why the sample overlaps them and lets the outline sit across the letter feet. The caps hold at 26 pt and the script at 30 pt, and the outline needs a light ground. The pale background with bokeh, the small caps above and the credit below are presentation; the coloured caps and cyan script are the family.

The tall caps carry the name and the outlined script writes the occasion, so one card uses two voices without a second purchase at 34 pt and 30 pt.
Hierarchy & layout recipe
Print an A6 card: set the name at 34 pt in the caps, set the occasion at 30 pt in the outlined script so it overlaps the cap feet by 4 mm, and keep 12 mm of margin for the script's tail.
Pre-production check
An outline laid over solid caps can lose its inner line; check the printed card and keep at least three steps of tone between the two colours.
The pair fills a party banner with two voices, and the outlined script reads at 60 mm where a solid script would look heavy.
Hierarchy & layout recipe
Print an A2 banner: set the caps at 60 mm, set the script at 50 mm overlapping the baseline, and keep 25 mm of border so the y tail finishes inside the sheet.
Pre-production check
An outstretched y tail printed to the trim looks cut; check the imposed banner and pull the whole block inward by 8 mm.
The duo covers both a cheerful headline and a personal line, and the outlined script stays open at 24 pt on a round sticker.
Hierarchy & layout recipe
Print a 60 mm round sticker: set the caps at 24 pt across the upper arc, set the script at 20 pt beneath, and keep 5 mm inside the die so the outline stays whole.
Pre-production check
A 1 mm outline gap fills in on a small die; check the printed sheet and open the gap rather than shrinking the word.
