Very heavy compact capitals with small rounded counters and softened corners
Cupine is a thick display sans with almost no contrast, counters cut down to slits, corners just eased off the square, and a width that makes a short word fill a poster.

Sturdy stroke walls and open counters weed cleanly on adhesive vinyl, HTV apparel film, and cut cardstock.
Visual anatomy & craft review
CUPINE fills most of the frame in flat red on a yellow ground, and everything about the drawing is pushed to weight: stems are as wide as the counters, the counters are narrow vertical slots, and the outer corners are rounded only enough to keep the shapes from looking cut with a knife. The C is a near-circle with a short lip, the U is a squared cup, and the E ends in three thick bars of equal length. Two small red captions in the same family sit above and below, one in caps with wide tracking, the other in two lines, and they work because they are the only thin elements on the page. The face has no lowercase in the preview and no ornament at all, so its whole character comes from mass. Set it large and it holds a poster at twenty paces; set it in a paragraph and the tight spacing closes the words up into a block.

Concrete hierarchy, scale and production guidance tailored to Cupine’s stroke geometry.
The weight survives a routed or painted fascia where a lighter face would disappear, and a single short word fills the board with no other decoration needed.
Hierarchy & layout recipe
Print a 1200 by 400 mm fascia: set the studio name at 150 pt on one row, keep 40 mm of clear ground beneath before the services line at 22 pt, and hold 45 mm of margin at both ends so the counters stay open.
Pre-production check
Rounded corners need a second pass on routed board; check a painted offcut before the sign is fixed. Have the printer send a physical sample first.
The flat weight gives a cover a blunt graphic statement, and the tight counters keep a long single word inside the trim without shrinking the size.
Hierarchy & layout recipe
Print a 210 by 297 mm cover: set the masthead word at 96 pt across the full measure, keep 26 mm of clear ground beneath before the issue line at 12 pt, and hold 18 mm from the last letter to the right trim.
Pre-production check
Heavy ink coverage on coated stock shows roller marks; print one cover and inspect it under a raking light before the run.
The chunky shapes read from across a room, and the plain silhouette leaves the colour to do the work of a decoration budget that has nothing in it.
Hierarchy & layout recipe
Print a 700 by 500 mm board: set the number and the name at 130 pt across two rows, keep 24 mm of clear ground between the rows, and hold 32 mm of border so no corner of a letter is cropped.
Pre-production check
Solid fills on foam board can bow at the centre; check one board mounted before ordering the set. Verify the result on the printed piece, then approve.
