Heavy serif capitals with pointed leafy extensions growing from stems and feet
Cailey is an ornate blackletter calligraphy face in which every stem sprouts leaf-shaped spurs, the bowls carry small curls, and the capitals extend into vine-like flourishes at the top and foot.

Visual anatomy & craft review
CAILEY fills the frame in solid black on a pale parchment panel, framed by thin rules with small square corner marks and a wash of ornamental acanthus in the margin behind it. The letters are built on a heavy blackletter skeleton, but where a plain gothic face would stop at a diamond foot, this one grows a curled leaf, and the diagonals end in fine hooks that point back into the letter. The caps are tall and the counters are narrow, so the word keeps its rhythm while the ornament works on the edges. Below the specimen a second line shows the alphabet from A to F at a smaller size, and a line of quiet serif caps names the style. Small marks at the foot carry the studio name and a code. The face is a titling cut: at invitation size the spurs are charmed, and below about 24 pt they close into the stem.

Concrete hierarchy, scale and production guidance tailored to Cailey’s stroke geometry.
The floral spurs give a formal invitation a period hand without a second ornament, and the capitals hold a long pair of names across the top of the card.
Hierarchy & layout recipe
Print a 130 by 180 mm invitation: set the couple's names at 30 pt on one row, keep 20 mm of clear ground beneath before the venue at 9 pt, and hold 16 mm from the highest flourish to the top trim.
Pre-production check
The vine flourishes overlap the line above; print one invitation on the real card and check the clearance before the run.
The ornament sets the period of the book on the title page alone, and the heavy stems hold up in a small trim where a fine script would disappear into the paper.
Hierarchy & layout recipe
Print a 135 by 216 mm title page: set the book title at 44 pt across two rows, keep 30 mm of clear ground beneath before the imprint at 9 pt, and hold 20 mm of margin left and right of the longest flourish.
Pre-production check
Fine spurs break on uncoated book stock; print one page on the actual paper before the signatures are ordered.
The lettering suggests an old craft without turning the bottle into a novelty, and the tall caps fit a long mead name on a narrow wrap.
Hierarchy & layout recipe
Print a 60 by 100 mm label: set the mead name at 22 pt on one row, keep 8 mm of clear ground beneath before the volume at 5 pt, and hold 6 mm from the lowest curl to the label edge.
Pre-production check
Curled terminals fill in at small label sizes; print one label on the real stock and look at it at arm's length.
